I ddnt purchase the canbus adaptor as thought it would not be necessary. Its a canbus adaptor they use to get the steering controls working with VW cars so wouldnt find it of importance atm.

Guna give it another try tomorrow and see what happens but have emailed the ppl I bought it off if they can provide assistance.

Are you geting someone to find out how to get them to work did you say??

Hi guys,

this stereo actually seemed to work for about 10mins then the cd/dvd drive stopped reading discs.

To get it powered up, the red and yellow wire on the loom (ignition and 12v live) had to be crossed over to make it power up as normally it would only show the red light and turn off.

It all worked and read discs to start off but then stoppd, does anyone know why it stopped working? Is it coz of the wire swap? Btw everything still does work but the cd drive.

Or could it just have been faulty? If i could get some electrical advice im sure i could get it working properly once i get a replacement and its defo worth £228 if all works out ok.

@ MasterKM

How does the gps side of it work do you have to install the software or is it all there. looking at the specs it looks like you could possibly get tom tom navigator running on it as it runs on windows CE 5.0.

@ vdawg, you only need the fascia required for your car from seat (mfd style), £21 from dave at sere motors. It needs to be the double din one but dave will sort you out his very helpful ;)

@image2000uk, regarding the gps, u can place the reciever wherever but my bro has his in his glovebox of his golf. It comes with iGo satnav software but yh i have heard it can run tomtom as they have also stated this so will download and try it out when i get everything.

Just hope d bloody thing works coz getin kinda pissd nw waitin lol

After a very long wait guys, I have finally got one that is fully working. The only thing that currently does not work is the steering controls but I can see that a CANBUS adaptor is going to be required for £29.

I will post a new thread about this unit and all the details required to get one cheap after I have given it a thorough test lol.. If any questions jus post and I will get back asap.

The only thing other than the steering controls is to get TOMTOM working on it other than iGO which I will try to figure out later on but have found some info on the gpsunderground forum ;)

be careful with tom tom navigator there are several versions around some will bugger up your bluetooth settings (best install one with out bluetooth) make sure you get the one with the right screen settings etc VGA or QVGA. drop me a pm if you have problems with map activation etc i am used to doing the main free standing (tom tom go etc) units and navigator is not much different.

I would probably go for the the vga version its on the other forum you mentioned I would probably use this one
TomTom 7.917.9186 VGA black Non Bluetooth version

When you install it install it to the sd card this will create a program files folder with navigator inside it.

you will have to also download voices, maps and postcodes to get it all working properly.

Install looks a bit like this : ( I am doing this from memory as i don't have a windows mobile platform any more)

1. install TTN to unit when you install it choose sd card for install then pull the sd card from the unit and stick it in a card reader and attach it to your pc
2. copy voices to same folder as TTN in a folder called voices
3. copy maps to root of SD Card or TTN folder
4. Make a folder called zip in the TTN folder and copy the two post code files to this.
5. run easytools keygen with the correct meta for the map you are using copied and pasted into the meta.txt file

I think thats all any probs give me a shout
