Evening all. A few months ago the electric mirrors failed to work on my 54 plate 2.0tdi sport.

A couple of weeks ago the drivers window failed to open electrically.

Then 2 days ago the vehicle failed to lock, either via the alarm or the key. I can only get the drivers door to lock. The interior lights do not switch off by themselves, I have had to turn them off so they do not drain the battery. Today none of the electric windows are working. Also the exhaust system light has come on.....so apart from the above, all is fine! It doesn't rain....

Any ideas please? Thanks.

Probably all connected to one thing. Have you put a fault code reader on it?

Sounds like you are losing power to the doors hence window and central locking. Could be a short somewhere. Fingers crossed for you!

Thank you both, I will check under the passenger seat. Central locking working on every door except the drivers door now! But not with second key fob! I will check for loose wires. Cheers fellas.

My electric mirrors have just failed as well. I've had the fault codes read, and there are none. The mirrors work when exercised by the diagnostic machine, and the switch shows no signs of being faulty - it disassembles when you try to take it apart, but all looks good and shiney. However it is a CANbus switch so has some associated electronic bits.

My next port of call is going to be the wiring, where it goes from body to door. All of the functions you mention have links through the door harness. Hopefully I can see something with the bellows removed, otherwise it will be taking the door card off.

Hi guys, I found out on Thursday....broken wires in the door. All soldered all fixed. Exhaust management light gone out too. Everything working fine now!
