Loud clicking/ticking noise

Basically had the alternator reconditioned a while back and there is a very loud ticking/clicking noise it does it on idle and while taking off but nothing when driving, its seems to be coming from the alternator side of the engine, would it be the alternator itself or cambelt tensioner

Sure it's not just the carbon canister? Black box with pipes running to it in front of the coolant reservoir. It's normal for that to tick.

Same as what john said, lift the bonnet up and have a listen to the black box situated behind the washer bottle. Its normal for this to make a clicking noise.

Its not the carbon cannister if i lean into i can hear it this clicking is louder then the cannister

Might be belt tensioner mate, my tdi did it intermittently, changed it and all you heard was the tractor like diesel noise. Cupra r is doing it too now

How long a while back?

Can you take it back to whoever done it as surely there must be some warranty or at least a good nature policy still available? See what they diagnose
