loud ticking engine

just been checking oil level in my 07 tfsi and the tick over is quite noisey,how quite and hw loud is acceptable on these engihes.It has got 24000 on odo

I was shocked at how clattery my TFSI FR was when I first got it. When started from cold especially, it sounded almost like a diesel. Once warmed up it wasn't too bad but there was still a ticking noise sometimes. I was told at the time that it's normal for these engines. Unless it's really bad, I wouldn't worry.

It's a very 'ticky' engine. I was once told a long time ago that it is somthing to do with the fuel stratified injection but don't take that as fact!
