Hi all,

Just wondered When mot times comes around again will i have to wind my coilovers up so that the car dosnt scrape,

Silly question but the garage where i take mine to get on the ramps you have to drive over the brake tester, Now ive got my leon splitter i know its going to scrape or rip it off which is a problem as i dont want all my nice smoothed bumper cracking either.

best bet is to ask them

is your car so low that the wheels foul the body? you might not need to raise it

I didn't think my CTR would get into the brake tester bit, so I asked them not to use it.. they did a road brake test instead.. I dunno if it was just becuase it was a dodgy garage I went to... but it's worth a try!!!

they also had pannels that slotted into the brake tester to make it the sam level as the garage floor if that makes sense

you can ask for a road brake test i think, they have to do it on freelanders because of their braking system. all they do is put a little pendulum device in the footwell to measure the force. its worth an ask at least!

id just do it to be on safe side, on 1 of my old cars they riped the bumper off getting it on the ramps and then failed it for not been secured when they took it off in first place.

so id say if u can raise it do it :)

i've got the same problem mines due in end of feb, might just wind it up to save the agro. but my mate does the test (and yes hes very paticular ao wont pass it if it isn't right) so i have no worries regarding him scraping it.i hope.

Cheers guys,

it dosnt rub its not silly low, just wondered what everone else did.

yeah ill just ask then to do a road test instead,

Kieran

mines dropped about 60mm and just made it over the rollers with a fingers width to spare. The garage will road test the breaks instead but the best bet is just to wind it up a bit.
