Its a new segment for Cupra, the economy is slowing and the Chinese are eating everyone's lunch. Plus the over 40k VED is a big drag on sales too. Plus it's competing with BMW Audi Volvo etc. I run one and its both an incredibly rare sight on the road and the general public doesn't get the brand. I like it but I think its tough sell image wise. The PHEV is crazy expensive, as the 2.0 so most are the 1.5 which is not a car for the trad Cupra customer. Which is a shame as its a well reviewed car.

I too bought my fully loaded VZ2/265 with a massive discount - it looks like Cupra have done very little marketing for the Terramar since it's launch beyond providing press cars and receiving almost universally positive reviews because it is a genuinely decent vehicle. We know that the latest Audi Q3, built in the same factory shares much of the same components/body and drive trains - lots of marketing effort by Audi and none from Cupra and ours is the way better vehicle and fully sorted as well.

I'm still just looking but was surprised to see a new 2.0 VZ2 at £40.990 when a 25 plate is 34k and a 26 for 36k, It is a great looking car, I had the Edition one Q3 before not sure what Audi have done with the new one.

The new Audi Q3 has a different interior than the Terramar and Android Automotive as the vehicle OS (the Terramar uses MIB4 I believe). I really hankered after a Polestar3 but got put off by the horror stories of the same OS tool kit that Audi have used for the new Q3...it's clearly not finished. I'm admin on the Q3 Owners Club forum and I'm so glad I took the Terramar...it's faultless and gets regular s/w updates too.

I tend to see a lot more mk3 Tiguans on the road than Terramars or Q3s, and I don't recall seeing any regular advertising for any of them prior to launch.

The fact you don't see many on the road is a bonus,I've had plenty of Seat cars in the past it's a shame nothing new is coming from them, this would be my first Cupra my one concern is the poor MPG on the 2.0 engine.

I've had a 2024 Golf, 2025 Tiguan and 2 x 2026 Tiguans all with the 1.5 TSI mild hybrid engine. They're much better on a long run out but around town I rarely see 30mpg. Zero issues with the engine and gearbox on any of them though.

Well from my last bit of research Android Automotive will be coming to all refreshed models least on Cupra. Did a link.

Starts off with cartography then uncovers more.

Basically VAG doesn't do Google Android Services (GAS). Some manufacturers do, some don't. It's a bit like the relationship of Fire TVs / Fire Sticks to Android TV... but if not familiar with that perhaps none the wiser. You can't login to Google service on Android Automotive Non GAS. Google Maps wont be the default Service in these cars. Fortunately Android Auto and Car Play will be available as a standard mib3 / 4 or ICAS3 the EV system to now.

The Android Automotive Appstore may contain apps that are worth using but untill you see the release you don't know. The unified way the infotainment system is written you don't know. The GAS and non GAS cars I have shown in that link. Interesting non GAS was used in China probably due to the banning of Google services in some regions by America with some companies whilst the same car got Google services outside China. Vag are using Here Maps (my supposition at the minute) so no change there in the core offering. Cartography is used for regenerative braking and other services so evidently they decided to stick with that. They part own the company but as said the option to use Android Auto or Car Play is there just that the cars systems use something else.

If you follow the links, quite detailed.

Whether there are killer apps we will find out.

Its been 7 year process from the announcement in 2019 to the launch of Android Automotive in Vag cars.

There are industry reports that the Cariad s/w development team has been restructured as the strategy of trying to manage common s/w development across multiple brands/vehicles/technologies became impossible to manage effectively (no surprise there!).

It seems that each brand is now free to drive their own software useage path with Cariad focusing on generic technology sets like infotainment and automated driving - a look at their open jobs page shows just 10 posts.

Considering the many issues with original Cariad-developed software in many current model VAG cars, it doesn’t fill me with confidence to hear that one of the areas Cariad will be focusing on is automated driving……..😮 🤔.

Yes they had downsizing from my reading was it 5,000 to do it or something then chopped. 5,000 seemed a lot.

Reckon they would be better to have one standard information system irrespective of brand. Seat was always lacking in the pecking order of development. Didn't get the forunner to connected services under mib2 unlike Skoda and VW. Seat / Cupra had to wait for mib3. The app development done by Seat for the mib2 high what was released was experimental and got withdrawn. Basically Alexa (? may be Google) and internet radio and sending map pois to the cars system. Their early in-house team. Basically you pressed a button it didn't understand and started to play music.

Allowing each brand to do their own thing seems problematic least from Seat's record. Problem one suspects managers don't understand the technology and get sold the wrong pup with issues. MQB Evo and Mib3... now several breeders within the group.

Rather hoping the Chinese VW factory that makes the Tavascan will bring some rigour and discipline. The joint working with the Chinese Xpeng manufacturer on the VW Unyx 7 for one. Rivian American one looks intriguing as VW backs two horses. SSP platform is the next thing. May the best approach win 😂. Chinese buyers will determine the Chinese success whether we will get trickle down will have to wait and see or whether it's a Rivian inspired technology for us. Hmm.
