getting bought lowering springs for my christmas

any advice on which are the best to get or on how low i can go?
thinking 35/40 mm not sure how the shocks will handle though?

advice would be great ta :p

Hi, lowering springs are a bad idea...most ppl here will agree. The shocks will fail and you will end up having to get them replaced too so best to just get coilovers to start with.

ok cheers its just cause their getting bought for me, cant ask for them to chip out for coilovers haha

thanks though

u can go to about -50mm but dont expect ur shocks to last a year after

i lowered mine -45mm it looks like a big improvement but i wish i had gone straight to coilovers

all the best

Tom

Got H&R -35mm springs, had em for year. No problems and shocks are in good shape. Car is much more comfortable than with original springs. But if you got the cash i'd recommend buying a good set of coilies, like kw var1.

Hi all,

which would people choose ; eibach or H&R when using with standard dampers. I know that VW ofter fit the eibach pro kit to standard dampers on some cars as a sports upgrade (was available on the lupo) but which will offer a slightly better option.

cheers

hi, im also very intrested in this as i only want a small drop and dont thnk i require coilovers.
Has anybody got pics of their ibiza lowered on the eibachs? Fr if possible.

Thank you
griff

As said, matched springs and shocks are the best option but a lot of people do a modest drop with just the springs and have no problems.

Most makes offer around a 30mm drop which is a nice height on the 6L's...

You would recommend any of these springs then? Will I be OK with FR standard shocks? (I know a lot of people don't recommend having lowering springs and standard shocks!) I just want a subtle lowering!

Depends what your wanting from the springs really?

It's always best to get matched springs and shocks as lowering spring do put extra strain on the standard shocks and shorter shocks will work better with the shorter springs.

A lot of people do just lower using springs though and have no problems.

Just a cosmetic drop really. I don't drive like a lunatic and I won't be doing track days. I drive a lot of miles so still need comfort (I hear coilovers are very harsh...)

The ride will be firmer with shorter springs - that's a certainty.

If you choose well howver, you should be able to lose the crashiness of the stock setup
