Sorry to hijack the thread but thougt it would be better than clogging up the forum a starting a new similar one. Just found out today my rear driver side spring has corroded and begin to fall apart. Halfords have quoted me £285.72 for two rear springs, however I've recently fitted 18" alloys and was thinking of lowering the car so as this has happened its kind of an incentive to do so. What am I looking at paying, roughly, for four Eibach or H&R springs and fitting in comparison to the price halfords have quoted me for two standard rear ones? Thanks.

Is that £285 including fitting from halfords? Rear springs take 10 mins to change, very simple job.

Lowering springs are around £130-200 depending where you get them from and which ones. An independent garage shouldn't charge you more than 2 hours labour as you can do the rears yourself.

Ye, including fitting.

Where's the best place to buy from? And which would be the best on 18", sport lines?

Personally I'd go for H&R (what I'll be getting) off eBay they're £136 delivered from Germany. Sportlines give a slight nose down look as the front drops more but is the more popular choice. Think they're around £180 ish. Not sure on best place to buy Eibachs from though.

H&R's are 40mm even drop.

No one spring would be best, just personal preference of the two.

Rears are pretty much that. Unscrew a bolt, lower the arm, remove spring and fit new one.

Shame the fronts aren't so easy haha

Might give it a go then. Would I be able to do it with a normal car jack like the one supplied for changing the wheel? Don't have anything else.
