Going to get my lowering springs in the next few weeks, and was wandering does anyone have any trouble with their wheels scrubbing. At the minute ive got a set of 17" RS4s with 205 40 17s on. Also what springs are the best to get?

17's should be fine mate as far as im aware, most people here will tell u the benefit of coilovers, so be prepared for it!

think Eibach ones are quite widely used on the Mk4 (ad lav used to have some IIRC before he went gangsta with Coilovers )

Awesome GTI sell some, check it out!

cool, had a look on the awesome site, and seen there is different axel weights on there, which one should i go for on a 1.4 16v?

If you are going for 18's get 215/35/18 tyres that way you wont rub at all.

18s look smarter i reckon, i was told when they were in being fitted that the car would handle 19's lol.

19's would be hyawge!

those 18's don't look bad though to be fair, sits nicer than i expected it.

having said that, the 17's killed my acceleration/'speed' as it is, i may aswell walk everywhere if i had 18's

Ive got them on a 1.2 Reference, and i dont have any issues with acceleration at all. I'M just about to put a straight through Duplex system on the car in Jan.

mine's a 1.2s, it's dog slow now i've changed from 14" steelies to 17" alloys!

mite go down the induction kit route in the new year....or find a way of fitting the supercharger from a mini cooper S, guy in max power did it to a lupo!

I dont think anything would kill my acceleration.......only make it better with less wheels spin :)

My mates moms got some 18" rs4's on her tt, need to try them on mine

That's only springs though - with coilovers or anything more than 40mm you are going to need to be carful with offsets...

Looks good though, just think they're too big imo. :)
