Machine polish/mop help in Manchester

Hello all,

on friday, before heading off to work to do my 12:30 - 20:00 shift, i decided, because i was pushed for time to take my car though the local armenian/polish hand car wash.

ive been there a few times before ande they always did a great job and are very polite and thorough

had the car cleaned, dried etc and off to work i went parked in the car park did my shift.

I returned to my car at 20:00, which by now was parked under a flourescent light in works underground car park an to my horror, all my bonnet was scratched to buggery :censored::censored:

it looked like someone had washed the bonnet of the car with the a bloody brillo pad, i **** you not.

there were 4 new guys on Friday morning that i hadn't seen before and they looked like your a-typical disinterested chavs.
one of them must of used a washmit that had been on the floor and picked up some grit and it had been used to wash the bonnet

luckilly, the rest of the car is OK its just the bonnet that had been scratched to f*ck

needless to say i absolutely lost it and on Saturday morning i went back to the car wash and verbally tore the owner a new arsehole!!

they offered to do it again, but i didn't want them touching my car again, so I settled for some money, which i used to get some products to try and get the scratches out myself.

so on saturday i ended up using Megs scratch X, T-cut '365' paintwork perfection raidiant red restoration kit and megs carnuba wax.

so. ive spent the best part of Saturday, carefully going over all the swirl marks and did a decent job of getting the majority out.
In the daylight, it looks ok, there is just one of the major deeper scratches that if you look hard enough you can spot.

however, in the car park again tonight, under the flourescent lights you can still see a load of the scratches and even though in normal daylight they are barely visible, i know they are there and its pissing me off a little bit. :(

so what im asking for is, is there a fellow scn member in Manchester with a machine polisher/mop?, that would be willing to meet up and have a go on some paint correction/scratch removal on my bonnet, before i go to the extreme of taking it to a painshop and having the whole bloody bonnet resprayed?

i know having a respray is a bit extreme, but im hoping a really decent machine polish will bring out the majority of the scratches. but i dont have a machine polisher and neither does any of my mates

i'll obviously happily recompence any kind soul who offers and i'll buy them a beer.

there's no need for anyone to say i told you so regarding using hand car wash places, ive learned my lesson (the hard way)

thanks in advance folks!

I think this is probably better to nip on here and ask someone..
www.detailingworld.co.uk/forum

I have literally just spent £120 on a new machine, but i'm in doncaster, and completely new to detailing, it will probably be cheaper to pay a decent detailer in manchester to come and sort it, rather than spend the £££ on products your self, that is of course unless you want to get into the detailing.

If you can get a hold of a mop or low rev grinder I have been in this situation a few years ago and you could do it yourself

I was shocked at the state. Was not the bonnet it was down one side, looking back think there was something in the cleaning mit they were using.

I used autoglym professional scratch remover and pair restorator then did a full mop polish and wax, took me over 5 hours but the paint actually came up like new, and could not tell!!

Thanks for the replies guys,

normally i only wash my car by hand, using the 2 bucket method, i have got loads of detailing stuff at home.

i only ever use these hand wash places if i know i haven't got time and with these past few weeks being really cold, my hosepipe's been frozen solid, so ive not been able to do it myself.

im really really annoyed not just with what they've done, but also with myself for not just leaving it for another week before giving it a decent going over myself.

i'll give it a go trying to beg/borrow a machine polisher, if all else fails, i'll try and get a proper detailer in to do it.

cheers

Yep, mate if the weather is ok on Saturday you can bring it over and I'll run a polisher over it for you. I won't be at a unit though so will only have the meguiars machine with me, but it may be enough.

PM me your number and I'll give you a bell/text let you know where I am etc etc Stop panicking now, we'll sort it lol

id suggest using something with a tough cut, like menzerna 203s
found here
http://www.polishedbliss.co.uk/acatalog/menzerna-203s-cat8.html

with something like the lake country, light cut hand pad
http://www.polishedbliss.co.uk/acatalog/lake-country-light-cut-hand-pad-cat24.html#aMasterLCHO0000
should see wonders with it!

if you can get hold of a rotary, or a DA try the 85RE
http://www.polishedbliss.co.uk/acatalog/menzerna-85re-cat8.html
on finishing pads

if the 85RE doesnt do the job, do the 203s over the top with a finishing pad and it should correct it. there should be no need to take the 85RE to it again.

id reccomend using something to bring the gloss back out after though, wether that be something like poorboys blackhole glaze or Blackice ect ect!

Slapped some chemical guys 700 on it followed by megs 83 and poorboys black hole, lake country polishing pad hex logic pad to finish. It's taken away say 80% but left a little where the scratch is more severe. Will take the rest out when I have a little more time Andy. Nice meeting you.

Its not deep scratches just swirl marks I'll try and get a pic but it might be weekend yet, it looks faded and scratched compared to the rest of the car which looks fine.

Cant believe i missed this!! It only take one cuhnt to ruin what you had, a half decent local car wash. I cant be arsed goin back to mine again. You dread walking round to have a look for damage, some guys have no love! Good luck with the car andy.
