MAF sensor calibration after CAI install

MAF sensor should be calibrated after CAI install. Otherwise it does not correctly calculate air amount any more. That is something I've heard recently. Did you do calibration after your CAI install?

i have neuspeed PFlow intake , does it count as CAI ?
also how can i calibrat my MAF ?

I wrote that question to ITG. Below is the answer I got:

When replacing the OEM MAF housing you need to insure the diameter is the
same as standard or has the same area as standard - increasing the area will
generally cause the engine to run lean and reducing the area will generally
cause the engine to run rich, although the ECU will try to adapt as best it
can based on the output from the Lamda sensor.

If a larger diameter MAF housing is used you will either need to remap the
ECU to suit the larger MAF, fit correspondingly larger injectors to
compensate for the extra airflow (if still using the standard map) or find a
way to modify the MAF's output signal to compensate.

If the MAF housing size is correct (same as OEM), the engine should run fine
throughout the rev range but may start to lean out towards the top end of
the rev range when the difference in airflow between the CAI and OEM airbox
will be greatest. Most ECU's have enough scope in the standard map to
compensate, however on some engines a re-map, higher fuel pressure or
possibly larger injectors may be needed to provide the extra fuel.

These are general guidelines and should not be taken as gospel for all
engines - different engines/ECU's can respond to modifications in different
ways.

All that says is if you enlarge the MAF, you need to change the output signal somehow. I'm not aware of any way to reset a maf? Surely just fitting a cai, then disconnecting the negative on the battery, then driving as you do normally so the ecu can adapt to your driving style would be enough?

you cant so far as I know and would'nt need to either.

so long as its CSA is the same it should read the same mass airflow.. Diameter changes will obviously effect the CSA (larger diameter would read an "apparent" lower g/s due to the slower velocity of air passing the sensor)
