Howdy all - christ it's been a while since I posted here

My dad's (remapped) Leon 110TDI is showing signs of MAF failure (very lumpy starting, and crap power delivery).

A few years back when the OEM Bosch MAFs were £silly, everyone was suggesting the Merc Pieburg unit as a better replacement. I see from a search that current dealership prices are circa £75 for a replacement unit... so what's the current opinion?

At this price it seems silly trying to mess around cleaning the existing unit. So what's the current opinion?

a/ New MAF from your local friendly SEAT dealership?
b/ Pieburg unit from your local freindly MB dealership?
c/ Spend ages cleaning it, then break it, and have to buy a new one anyway.

I bought serv-ex one for our 115Pd Alhambra from GSF, it looks to me like a genuine Bosch exchange unit.

So are we saying that the GSF (Bosch Serv-Ex) are of a lower quality than the VW (Bosch Serv-Ex)

I will feedback if the GSF one fails prematurely. (3 Weeks and counting)
