Just after some confirmation of what I think is going on here?

Booked car into main dealer to have wheel bearing changed.

Dealer rang me up to say hub was damaged in the process of removing wheel bearing and I need a new one.

I visit dealer and ask to see damaged hub.

I inspect hub and bearing, there is no visible evidence of any attempt to separate them and no damage.

I ask why that is and was told,

Abs wheel could be damaged in removing it, and there is usually a wear groove in the hub and it will need replacing, also the mechanic did want to ruin a chisel in separating the bearing from the hub.

I told the dealer that a part was ordered under false pretences, and I would like an attempt at separating the bearing to be made.

Any other opinions would be appreciated?

I think it is a bit late for that, the car is in bits on a ramp and I should imagine they will make some sort of charge for labour!

I wonder what the Seat complaints procedure is?

You have the right to refuse a job and they cant charge you if you want to take it else where, they must be amatuers if they cant nock a bearing out, unless the bearing gave way and collapsed of was on the verge of collapsing normally the hub doesnt get damaged. My rear one sounds a bit rough but a few more miles left yet at there isnt much play, will be changed soon though.

Problem with dealerships is there fitters, just fit new parts and dont reapair a thing, burn wiring, whole loom, leaking caliper, change it instead of changing seals. There are many garages out there who will repair still to a good level.
