major coilover problems - scrubbing badly!

well i bought 7x17" et 35 wheels for my mk4 ibiza fr,lowered it 120 mm on them hottuneing coilovers,i didnt scrub atall and was very low,but the coilovers got damaged(arb link bracket bent) so i invested in fk coilovers,set it quite low but as low as before and went for a run and it scrubbs realy bad,tried raising it abit abd still its rubbing,so i cut away abit of the arch liner and still it rubbs,maybe its catching the bumper bracket cause its tearing chunks outa my tyres,but why does it do it with the fk's but not the cheap ones.i spend alot of money on the wheels and suspension so im major dissapointed and any help or ideas would be great.i tried the old fr wheels back on cause there et42 and they dont scrub,so its to do with offset i think but still it should have scrubbed with the cheap coilies to

It has nothing to do with the coilovers, get a Higher ET wheel altough I had 8x17's and ET 30 which is quite wide for the Ibiza, and I t didnt scrub that much

it's not hard to see what's catching...

jack car up, remove wheel, see what's been catching

if it's damaging the tyres, it'll be metal. and the metal it'll be catching on will all be shiney.

you could do the sensible thing & raise the car while you're there - you don't want to have your tyres catching any part of your car - the prospect of having a blow out isn't worth considering

yup ive dun that and cut away at wat was shiney,but still it rubs loli cant see wat its catching on nw

Do you find you FK's any softer? More suspension travel?

yup alot softer ,and more travel,tracking is ok,wud camber make it rub,with the cheap suspension the trye was way in the arch so it shuda scrubbed but didnt,with the fk's ive got it alot hire to alow for the more travel from softer setup,but still catches

Raise the suspension more then. Don't forget the whole point of suspension is to allow the body/wheel to move in relation to each other. If it's too low for the spring rate then, as you've discovered, it will rub.

I supose if you had some crazy positive camber that could cause issues, dont know how much adjustment there is though.

stop being a wannabee chav, lift the suspension up.

The fact the front arches are lower than the top of your front wheels may explain why it's rubbing, don't you think?

thats just the way its sitting lol the is about a 2 inch gap between the wheel and arch
