Exhaust manifold and downpipe on the LCR - are they exactly the same as the Audi S3/TT quattro? Would they bolt straight onto my engine, a Cupra? Anyone got any pics of a S3/TT/LCR exhaust manifold?

Reason I'm asking is because I'd like to move to the GTRS but they are a nightmare on the inlet side of the Cupra/6-speed, but on the S3/TT they are a doddle because the turbo sits much higher, above the gear linkages and a 3" inlet just slips straight on.

My thoughts are to use the LCR/S3/TT manifold and DP/CAT on my engine with a 3" inlet - on this setup Star gets 330bhp and 300lbft from the GTRS easily, with all the inlet problems on the Cupras they only get around 300bhp.

Would this work?

I can't see why not, Rob. That's what I wish I'd done. Are you running an ATP exhaust manifold at the moment? The reason I ask, I though the ATP manifold was a substitute for both the LC and LCR manis.

Yeah im sure they are both the same as i just bought an s3 one of ebay to so i can get a friend to experiement with designing a bigger one and when i have matched it up to my LCR it looks pretty much the same well i hope it is anyway

Got any pics of the S3 one?

Well I'm after an LCR/S3/TT 210/225 exhaust manifold and downpipe in the hope it will make the GTRS installation ALOT easier, on the inlet side mainly as the turbo sits above the linkages, the GTRS inlet flange is almost touching the gearbox otherwise which is crap.

If anyone has a manifold and DP lying around - let me know.

Is it that much easier with a 5speed to install the GTRS then?

Would be awesome if you could get the k04 manifold to GTRS and use stock k03 downpipe.

Would mean a better manifold and higher turbo mounting position. Shame really.

Rob, the lcr/TT/S3 mani will fit the cupra no probs and prevent clashes with gears etc. The quattro eliminator is the way to go. The problem is that the stock lcr DP is utter shite and no good for big turbo installs etc, not least because it splits into two, an uprated 3 inch lcr dp is required. I would ask gary (piper RS) on one of his threads if he could compare his jigs for both the LCR and cupra on the floor side by side to see if theres any chance of their lcr DP and cat mating to thier LC catback zorst. It will probably require a little bit of mingeing about but should be do able. You may have problems with the fixing bracket for the lcr down pipe being in a different position for the cupra. The floor plan should be the same though.

Yes the Quattro Elim is a better design, ATP should have released a Quattro-shaped manifold and downpipe as a kit with the GTRS Eliminator, as it's a million times easier to install, the turbo sits above the gear linkages whereas the FWD kit has the turbo inlet right against the gearbox pointing straight at the gear linkages and bracket ... clever stuff!

The Piper LCR DP and CAT looks like the best option for me yes. The LC and LCR have the same floorpan so I'm hoping the DP should be a straight fit. However there is a company in Scotland that makes custom manifolds, DP's, exhausts, etc. so I can't see me getting too stuck, can just get the car trailered there with the turbo on and get them to make a DP and exhaust. Getting my hands on an LCR/S3/TT exhaust manifold is my first task!!!

Perhaps some of the guys who have gone custom big turbo like Caney might have their old manifold lying around?

Interesting!

I can't believe the KO4 turbine flange is that far 'left' of where the K03 flange is. If it isn't, it would push your dp out to the driver's side.

Something a fabricator could maybe knock up a lot cheaper, but it would need to be accurate.

Could do with a boss for an EGT sensor...... (unless you drill and plug the manifold instead).

So you use a k04 mani (can you get a high flow one?), K04 eliminator, that connecting/transfer pipe and any normal k03 downpipe?

That could be a winner.

Looking at the manifold in picture on the Vortex thread, you can see it would line up.

It just seems a shame to have to use the quattro manifold, that's got to be restrictive.
