manifold/turbo blowing

hi my leon 20vt sounds like a tractor where the exhaust is blowing somewhere from the turbo or manifold wheres the best place to get the manifold to head gasket and the turbo to manifold gasket iv checked all the bolts are tight and all are any help would be great cheers scott

I think mine is doing this too..doesn't really sound like a tractor but there is a sound a bit like a kettle along with the usual whoosh sound when boosting under load. The turbo bolts on my old mk4 Ibiza Cupra came loose and I fitted nordlock washers, but I can't see how to get to the bolts on the LCR.

ok will have to strip it down tomorrow just been and checked all the bolts and there tight so im hoping its just a gasket and not a cracked turbo or manifold

I thought that, turned out to be cracked weld, you still need the gasket though as it just crumbles to dust when removed.

good news it was the turbo to manifold gasket it was a lot easier to change than i thought i done the manifold gasket to and all the new nuts and bolts for them altho its now blowing from underneath a slight bit

Hey Kriso,do you know what size nordlock washers to get for a leon cupra r?the 3 bolts on mt turbo/manifold have come off twice now,thanks

I had that happen a couple of times. My dog bone mount was the cause of it as it was ready for snapping which it later did on the town centre in the early hours. That caused the engine to tilt more when driving hard and changing gear putting strain on the turbo downpipe joint.
