Manual gear reverts to D

I have Cupra Leon 1.5tsi DSG. If I select maual gear using the paddle it stays in manual for 10 seconds or so and then reverts to D. It does this no matter which manual gear it is in. Why should this happen?

The work around I've found is to stick it in Sport, then use the manual paddle shifters and it'll stay in M

It’s normal, if you put the gearbox into sport it won’t do it
