I do that sometimes but i wasn't sure if it could upset the gearbox by been in D then manually going down a couple of gears to pass someone then letting it go back to auto.
And by upset i mean break .

Just man up and flick it into "tiptronic" mode when you set off ;)
 
I played with tiptronic a few times ,lots of fun�� although the mpg went down by lots ��

Worth it! You get used to it anyway.
I'm in manual most of the time now. Still getting 45mpg. Heaps more on longer journeys, but generally I do 10m to and 10m from work on 30-60 roads.
When the wife lets me drive that is :) We work in the same area and she loves the Leon as much as I do... so...I have to give up the wheel sometimes.

..granted it is technically her car.

I'm man enough to be comfortable with this.

...and comfortable enough with the fact that if it were to be on my name my insurance premium would be about 600 pounds more :cart man:
