Media Unit location?

Hi, does anyone know where the Media unit would be located on these cars?

I have the basic audio system and would like access to the "iso" speaker output to install an amplifier inline

I'm looking for this somewhere in the car

If it's like the other Seat / Cupra cars of recent you have to do the dampner trick. Think it's put in the manuals now. Unclip the dampner, which makes the glove box glide down, break it and it looses the action and just drops.

So least for the Ateca the diagram wasn't too helpful, which to squeeze, push and pull to release the dampner. Probably a YouTube video now. Fuse box can lurk there so videos get posted... if that's where it is on Formentor. Infotainment gubbings are there as well.

I recognise that media box.

You'll have to remove the entire glovebox on UK Formentors, not just the door. It's a sealed compartment and requires trim tools to get it out. I wasn't even successful in changing the cabin filter because of the design, so good luck!

I see no dampness but clips.... must be a new design 3:50

That's only for the fusebox.

On the Ateca when I asked how to get at the fusebox in the glove compartment at delivery, the reply was "its a non customer serviceable part".

Due to how RHD cars are wired, that's to say they don't change the wiring from LHD to RHD in how it runs down the car, what is easy to get at in LHD cars is hidden in RHD befind the glove box. Suspect as more tech is put in more hiding goes in. I never did get the Ateca dampners off, you need strong fingers.

Whilst you are in there, change the cabin filter.

Don't (no matter how tempting) disconnect the airbag on off switch on the side by the door or you will have some resetting with OBDELEVEN tool or similar.

If you disconnect the battery then this won't be a problem but there may be other side effects.

I used pump bags to 'gently' maneuver the glovebox into submission. 🙈

Found the media unit after removing the glovebox.
Hangs from a bracket, unfortunately cables behind it are too short for it to slide out fully so you need to drop down the bracket. Screws are behind the centre dash trim piece.

Looks like a standard ISO multiplug which you can just pull out the speaker section and then the usual amp business from there once I get the cables.

I've attached some photos if anyone wants to see this for future reference
