Metal strip where the roof rack connects?

Hi all,

The strip which goes along the roof on both sides above the doors, the part where you connect the roof rack to - the paint on mine has started peeling off on one side, leaving bare metal underneath.

I want get it out so I can rub it down and respray it so I just wondered if it can be removed easily?

Yeh it just pulls out, but be careful as it tends to bend as you lift it - can be straightened easy enough mind.

mine keeps popping up at the drivers side back bit, i just push it down every time i chuck some fuel in
