Hi Guys

Need some help please :help:

Car: Leon MK2 TFSI 2.0 Petrol

Heres the story so far.

The car intermittantly misfires in varing serverity.

I have had it hooked up to diagnostics machine which gave the following codes P0300 Combustion failure & P0304 combustion failure cyclinder 4 (Cyc 4 shown everytime)

This is what has been done so far

Changed the coil pack for a new - still the same
Moved the coil packs to see if we had a duff new one - still the same & still shows cyc 4
All 4 Sparkplugs have been changed for new ones as they where getting on.

Has anyone been in the same situation and advise or tips would be a great help

Thanks

Alan

Yes I think the common code Is activated by the cylinder 4 code. You get the same with misfires. I.e. multiple misfire code and then specific cylinder.

Try monitoring cylinder misfires on the cylinder misfire blocks. Can't remember what they are. And see if it is constantly occurring on just the 1 cylinder

ah ok that makes sense

I have had it checked a few times as we did some tests last weekend and on Tuesday night. I'm using a Bosch diagnostics as that what we have in the garage and its always cyc 4 that shows the error.

So as i have new spark plugs and have checked the coil pack by moving them i suppose need to look at these next??

1. wiring to cyc 4 to see if that has broken somewhere?

if not that then

2. Injector?

Any other suggestions of something i can check easily before i go down the injector road??

All your help is really appreciated thanks!

I'm not familiar with the Bosch diagnostics mate, but on VCDS you can monitor live misfire counters on each cylinder and also each injector, plus log it whilst driving under load.

There isn't water or oil in the plug well is there?

You should check the plug connections / cabling to the coil connector to make sure your getting a decent contact from them.

Other than that the only other cylinder specific item is the injector.

No nothing in the plug well it was all fine.

I will take a look at the connections tomorrow i might wiggle them to see if it can make it happen might get lucky!!

I may have to look into VCDS i suppose i can find something on flebay might give me somethng more accurate!?

Thanks again
