missfire in 4th gear only???

is it running lean at that speed?
what colour are your plugs after the thrashing?

i wouldnt know if it was running lean tbh. the plugs i took out looked ok when i changed the coils. although they had 3 prongs on and the ones i put in only had one, would that matter?

i know you mentioned MAF the first time round but dont have the money to spend at the mo as im on the edge of redundancy!!!

You can log the MAF in VAG COM to see if it's under reading, probably worth a shot
