Missfire - MAF Related?

Had a few missfires the last couple of days only under load while booting it, VAGCOM shows no codes. Coilpacks and plugs seem ok but what i found odd was that unplugging the MAF seems to cure the problem (and makes the car a little faster). So i'm presuming the MAF is screwed (again), could the missfires have been MAF related?

Sounds like it could be, If unplugging it as helped id say it was for certain.

Are you able to log the maf values?

Seems so, but seems odd. Can't log values as i'm borrowing a mates laptop whos battery does not hold charge. My VAGCOM cable should be with me next week so i'll have my own setup then. So i guess if i can wait that long i'll log it then.

Its not unheard of for the maf to cause a misfire. If it were me i wouldnt wait until next week. If unplugging it make s an improvment i think id just get a new maf.

Yeah you may be right mate. I think it might still be under VW warranty, i'll have to dig out the recipt. I may nick my girlfriends MAF tomorrow just to be sure.

is her golf dbw or non dbw? (different MAF sensors)

I have a spare (new) one to try if you want to diagnose.

Cheers Bill but hers is dbw (AUM engine) luckily. So i'll rob it later and give it a go. I'll be ok driving down to Bristol and back with the MAF unplugged won't i? Got to take my bro to look at Golf today.

it should be ok yes..
AUM sensor is different function also... matts golf was aum also but did'nt like ibiza sensor.

Ah cool. Hmm, i'm sure we've swapped MAF's before when hers was screwed. Never mind, i might take you up on that offer later then mate.
