Missing Engine Cover

That was the case with Seat a few years back, depends whether Cupra has a different message. I could see if you have a combined dealership you might get mixed messages. My two-penny-worth. They might now be admitting they were sold with them and giving them out on your model. Certainly wasnt the case on the Seat Ateca a few years back, I don't think anyone got given a missing engine cover of those effected who thought they should have one. They were the TSI engines at the time. That and the rear door combined in the wheel arch were the pet hates on the Ateca. You're fine on the last one.

I heard that VW-Troc had give new engine covers on week 19?
Why nobody knows anything Cupra Formentors 310 covers?
Does anyone know to which address of the manufacturer the question should be sent?
The importer doesn't know anything about it🤬

My Leon is going in for a service in a few weeks and this note is on the booking:

> Carry out Recall Recall number: 10I6 Recall Name:S-Fit engine design cover LK2/LK3

It came new without a cover.

Mine had the same recall mentioned on my recent service booking, but I got no cover as they where still on back order. Car now over 2 years old and I have never had a cover since new too.

Well, I got one. Not as flashy as I was expecting, no copper accents or branding.

I wounder how can it take so long time to solve such a simple matter…? I have seen postings in different treads for at least two years in this topic. It’s global for VAG cars with the EA888 engine. For sure VAG has not spent unnecessary time on design issues of the cover :D:D:ROFLMAO:.

The one for Leon MK3 / Golf 7 EA888 looks much better.

Seriously?

I can only imagine that VW Group had other, more worrying issues to think about.......;)

I seem to remember that on some previous generations of VAG vehicles, the engine covers did have some form of brand-specific identification.

However times change, and we live in an era of cost cutting and saving money. With something such as an engine cover that’s out of sight and rarely seen, VAG’s focus would have been on function over form. To personalise engine covers to make them brand-specific wouldn’t be considered by the bean counters within VAG as money well spent; as @Seriously? has said, VAG have had more worrying issues to think about.

My VW wasn’t affected by the engine cover recall. It has its original, generic non-branded black plastic engine cover which is fine by me.

Probably picked it up off a Chinese site, a job lot of 100,000, 1€ each 😉.

Got mine when I went in for the heat protection recall. The cover was still out of stock but when I asked nicely and explained its a near 40 mile round trip to come back they russled one up. Very plain, but hey ho.

Finally got my cover fitted yesterday, and told the service girl that it should have had a nice big red CUPRA on it, and she agreed. Probably a cost saving exercise again and I also saw some newer versions of my Leon now only had non painted and no CUPRA badging on the brake calipers.

The covers are very much an anti climax! Even a simple Cupra badge would be better than nothing.
