Mk 2 Boost pod positions...

Hi all!

Im buying a Hybrid Turbo at the end of the week for my 06 FR TDI and for a fancy wee touch i was gona put a Boost Gauge in..

Where have yous all put them your pods? and i seen the air vent pod before but dont know where to get them :/

Could someone help me out with pics and stuff

Hi buddy,

The air vent pods pop up on eBay occasionally you just need to keep checking, they aren't too bad price I think about £30-40.

There is also the pillar mount pod that a few of us run on here too.

I've got the pillar mount in mine, didn't have to modify anything to fit it.

You can get the vent pod from the TT shop [£20]

Sure there's folk fitted these specific ones to various Ibiza/Leon's.

Yeah I believe they would (FITTING TO AN IBIZA) and I'm sure these things are failry standard across the VAG range (just different bezels)

This chat came up in another thread recently. Good mechanical gauges are regarded as very accurate... but you have to run a physical capillary from the engine bay up into the cabin, which over time could perish or if it kinks whilst running the line and start leaking... not dramatic if it's just boost (air) but if it were oil temp/pressure (oil) then it's another story! the pressure drop from the engine bay to gauge is considered negligible.

Good Electrical gauges are great, accurate and may have some features which you'd just never get with mechanical, peak hold, replay etc... Cheaper ones can be less accurate (sensors, poor voltage circuitry etc)

They are barely visible with the pillar mount on. You could always get a bit of limo tint and put it on the inside of the glass. But it's not enough for me to worry about.

Not even sure how I need to wire this up If I use an electronic one not Mechanical.
I understand how mechanical works just not where i wire electrical to.

Electric one is pretty easy to do, it still has a pipe from the engine bay. That connectors to a pressure sender unit which sends an electrical signal to the gauge. All it needs is a perm 12+, switched 12+ and an earth. You can use certain fuse positions on the drivers fuse box to power it

Has anyone used the TT vent pod one? Im after one and i think its looks alot better in the vent. Ive seen them on ebay but the totally block the vent. If the TT one fits i shall invest in one
