Good car but can't say it would win the best hot hatch ever.
I've never really see it described as a hot hatch or fast family car.
TBH I've never seen it considered in any polls

Obviously voted for LCR but more a baised opinion that truth.
I'd have truthfully gone for the Integrale too and would still have one to this day if they did them in RHD from manufaturer (I know there are some adjusted ones going about).
If Knockhill was a more friendly LHD car track I would have one now as a track car

The list has a mk1 golf 16v, pretty sure they never made one of those.

Edit: they have corrected it on the actually click list.

Also depends what people define as a "hot hatch"...

I think the LCR was hugely practical as well as being fun to drive, tunable and great value.

But 'practical' isn't cool and doesn't win surveys, I'm sure some of those hot hatch's are great 5 days a year in perfect weather.......not so much fun faced with a 300 mile trip with 4 adults and luggage.

SEAT just isn't the cool vote anyway

Not looked at the list yet but I'd say the LCR should be up there.

Too many times you read all this claptrap in EVO and other magazines with journos creaming themselves over anything French, when the vast majority of them were awful, unreliable, rattly, flimsy rotboxes... I'm talking Renault 5 GT Turbo, Clio Williams, 19 16v etc here.... So what if they had fast engines, they had awful driving positions, tiny pedals and interiors and engines that dropped to bits as you looked at them... not my idea of a 'great' hot hatch anyway..

Pretty sure the likes of the Integra Type R, Civic Type R or Golf GTI mk1 should be in the reckoning, though I'd add the following for consideration: -

Ford Escort Cosworth,
Audi S3 Quattro mk1,
Audi Quattro Turbo,
VW Golf GTI mk5,
VW Golf mk4 GT TDI PD150,
MG ZS180 V6,
Peugeot 306 GTI-6,
Rover 220 GTI Turbo,
Rover 200 Vi BRM,
Ford Focus RS,
Vauxhall Astra GSI Turbo..

While at last year's IoW Festival, I noticed that many of the non-grubby cool folks were actually SEAT owners; cool is winning the WTC twice on the trot; cool is hailing from a land that had street lighting & sanitation when Britain was in the dark ages; cool is a culture that includes Goya, Picasso, Dali, (Isaac) Albéniz, Gaudi, Penélope Cruz, Javier Bardem, Elena Anaya, Almodóvar etc, etc. [B)] And a certain FWD hot hatch with Brembo brakes, a 1.8T twin intercooler engine, 18in wheels & mean yet stealthy styling. :D

Tbh I think the LCR does have a cool status.

Last sunday I was at the Ultimate Car Show in Larne with a few mates. One of them drives a 492bhp Evo 8, and was dying to get a look around all of the other Evos up there. I mentioned to him I spotted a Cupra R over the other side and his eyes lit up. We went over for another nosy and he absolutely loved it. I seen alot of people taking a good look at that car throughout the day. From talking to the owner it had an induction kit, FMIC, exhaust and mapped sitting around 275bhp. Now compared with alot of cars there that day (400+bhp cossies, 800bhp GTRs, big bhp scoobies and evos, etc, etc) it seemed to get alot of attention.

At least in NI its one of those cars that everyone knows, but few have actually seen/driven. For that reason alone I think its cool.
