Hi guys, im new, and i have recently bought an 04 Leon 1.9 SX TDI, the 110 bhp model. Im looking for some power gains but not really sure where to start? I've heard that an uprated air box from the 130 or cupra is a good place to start, along with a remap, but not entirely sure.

Thanks for any help.

nah, the airbox will the same. The air intake is already good on the diesel leons.

As for looking where to start depends how much you want to spend, if its a few hundred then get a remap for about 350 then be happy. Or if you have more to spend then get a PD150 turbo, bigger injectors then a remap to take them into account.

Theres plenty of info about 110 tuning in the TDI section (as this relatively new TDI Tuning section might not have it in)

Thanks mate, might just be me being blind, or new, but where is the TDI tuning section your talking about cuz i cant find it for looking.

Yeh i been lookin at the remap, i've heard some people with my model have got gains up to 30bhp for it. If i uprate the turbo does that mean that the clutch and/or gearbox would then have to follow?

Same model as mine :D got it about a month ago, but on a 54 plate.

Just do a search for "110 Leon" or "110 mods" or something along those lines. Plenty of helpful info dotted around on the site!

Your post is already in the TDI Tuning section, the main TDI section is here :-

If you put a hybrid turbo on then gearbox will be ok, could get some clutch slip but its not to much of a biggie on the older non PDs.

Yeah I was the same, I've always said that I was a petrol head and would never buy a diesel. But I couldn't afford to run a petrol engine with the amount of motorway miles I do, and as soon as I test drove it, it blew me away! Wasn't like any other diesel I'd test driven before, very very very good engine! I went from a 1.4 mk3 Ibiza!

I'm quite happy with the power (especially when overtaking!), apart from acceleration from stand still isn't great, but then again it is a diesel! Although a think a remap can help this!

yeh mate i know. the acceleration from about 40 in 3rd and especially 4th is quality, want a bit more from a stand still though. all the way through the range like. prob just gonna go for a standard remap, and maybe give it a couple of years then think about maybe a bigger turbo etc.

When I get a few pennies together, I'll be getting a remap. But before then I'll prob do little bits and pieces like smooth air box, green panel filter, large cold air feed, and then some handling mods. Not sure about bigger turbo, would rather save money and get an FR or something.
