was thinking about remapping my 140 but wanted to know if i added a bigger intercoller would it be any help or does anyone know what is the best option?thanks

Depends on how much money you want to spend and how much power you want.
I previously had a PD140 (Golf) with just a re-map and it was plenty quick enough for normal road driving.

yeah mate got bout £1000 to spend on good upgrade, wot would yo reccomend?thanks

remap first thing for sure. Im not to clued up on turbo turning though. I think yourt talking big bucks like new turbo and injectors etc if you looking to get even more power after that.

Adding a front mounted intercooler won't provide anymore power, but it will help in providing consistant power levels on hotter days or when there is a lot of heat soak around the engine bay.

You can spend boat loads on trying to acheive more power, but the best value for money is going to be a remap.

After looking at tuning a FOcus diesel I found that a remap was the best investment, someone spent some money on looking a turbos, injectors etc but on the Focus it was a waste of money. On my Golf i've settled for a remap, VAGS do respond well to tunning but £ for bhp the remap is the most cost effective route along with a panel filter.Tunning diesel moves the torque higher up and defeats the object of owning one. Also I think the Golf cannot put the power down very well and the clutch struggles.

Well if you have a grand to spend, then turbo back exhaust and re-map, maybe a bit of money spent on the induction if you've got any money left over.

If your clutch is struggling then get the re-mapper to wind back the low rpm torque to a more acceptable level. I had to do that on my 140.
I can't see how moving the torque up the rev band on the Diesel defeats the object of a Diesel, you don't drive everywhere at a steady 1900rpm do you? Remapping it gives you a broader more useable torque band that allows you to use the higher gears (thus lower rpms) and the fuel economy stays at similar levels overall. I have pushed this boundary somewhat on a couple of my cars, but hey ho, all in the name of science!:D
Anyway the added fun of the torque surge makes it worth a few lost MPGs anyway.
My remapped 140 did low 40s mpg where I doubt you'd get near 30mpg in a 2.0tfsi petrol unless you've got a brick under your accelerator pedal.
