mk2 dash ticking

has anyone else had their 8v ibiza emit a loud ticking from the instrument cluster area? doesn't seem to change with speed - just very annoying! any ideas?

Have not had this on a SEAT but past experience has always proved to be the speedo head

Never bothered to fix it to be honest, just turned the stereo up a bit louder. Was my mums car so didnt use it all the time. If you mechanically handy and have a haynes book then it shouldnt be too much of a problem for you to fix.

Scott, I assume you're talking about my old car? It always made that noise while I owned it. I think I grew oblivious to it. Has it got louder?

Its does it on mine when the door aint shut properly. once shut it goes away.. check for a faulty door switch... you never know..

shouldnt be two hard to check

Mk2 8v doesn't have a cable drive though - all impulse based.

MINE DOES IT WHEN THE DOORS NT SHUT PROPERLY...BUT WHY WOULD YOU DRIVE WITH YOUR DOOR HALF OPEN ANYWAY?

sorry i typed in capitals cos i didnt bother quoting from above so i just copied it and to make mine different i typed in capitals.

what i meant was that mine does it but i wouldnt say the switch was faulty, just that it did it if the door was slightly open, cos its constantly pressing and releasing the switch when you go round corners and what so.

can't seem to see anything wrong with the switch - do you mean the black pin and plunger part on the frame, or the actual switch for it in the dash?
