Hi everybody,
Been on for a while now, had the car on the road since April felt it was time for a readers ride.
Anyway I'm sure most of you know the car i bought from Suj on here back in November 2010. I bought it with out the bbs that were on it so had to rapidly fins some wheels, a friend came through, coincidentally, and lent me his mk3 cupra wheels and with tax issues to sort and the selling of my previous car to happen before i could get this on the road it stayed like this till early 2011.
Then my mate needed his wheels back but had a set of 17" Avez A's i could borrow these were pretty cool and we all discussed me running them but they had pretty aggressive offset and even moving it on the drive caused rubbing and i couldnt get it out the drive.
I had planned on slowly making my way through all the stuff that needed doing to get it on the road however out of the blue my old car sold so i took it to my mechanic to finish off what i hadn't managed to do.
There was quite a lot to get done and it needed to be done quickly. I had discovered that someone had cut through both abs wires which meant that the wiring had to be stripped back into the car to the next join and replaced so that there wasnt a nasty join inside the arch. Whilst i was down there i also discovered that both cv boots were shot to pieces so these were replaced the rear brake hoses and the handbrake cables were all needing to be replaced. The cambelt was gone as were all the other belts so these were replaced as a full belt kit before it was too late. whilst the cv boots were being done it was discovered the wheel bearing and actual hub was gone one side so this whole set up was replaced as well. Then just to finish it off it was given a full major service all new liquids and filters and a new set of plugs.
Then it was MOT time and it wasnt gonna pass on the 17's so i had to quickly find some wheels... So i found these
16x8 et 38 all round ACS or something like that, off a BMW apparently. Obviously red and orange isnt a great look so i set about refurbing them myself as i couldnt afford a strip and powdercoat.
Scene shot for the cool kids...
So it was off to MOT and it failed on emissions so the exhaust had to be adjusted and welded to get it through.
Then it was a trip to my local DVLA office and several queuing hours later it was officially on the road.
