I am after some new rear lights for my Leon Cupra R. I would post a photo but as a new person to the forum I can't.

As I can't do this I will try to describe them as best I can.

The lights I am after look similar to the standard one to look at but they look as if the brake lights are in the shape of an L or a V on it's side.

Can anyone reading this and knows the rear lights I am on about help me and possibly tell me where I can get them.

Thanks in advance.

Cool mate. It's going in in Wednesday so I'll ask then.

Check the parts for sale thread on here, there is a set for sale, as Leoncr said they'll need coding in.

thats new mate so fairy snuff.

Second hand for me you can half it. (thats my opinion what others do is up to them...)

i want um, but happy to wait for a set at the right price.

£450 new I think.

2011 and newer I believe, my september '11 FR+ has them.

As above you will need a dealer to code them - or an independent that has access to VAS as well as VCDS.

That's the ones mate.

Thought my Cupra R might of had them being 2011 model but it doesn't so I wi price them up and see what happens.

I don't understand what they need coded for as they are just rear lights?! How much do the dealers charge for the coding anyway? I was thinking of getting a set for my 09 plate FR.

its to do with the canbus system as they are LED's

A dealer should charge no more than 1/2 hours labour IMO

Ah right ok. The lights will work without the coding though will they not, the coding will just be to get rid of/stop any future errors thrown up by the lights or do the dealer have to fit the lights and then code them there and then?

That I cant answer, thou I can say I have seen them on a prefacelift (with facelift tailgate ) and they just used resistors

Hmm I'm just trying to decide if it's worth getting a set of the newer style lights or not, they do look really smart. What are the differences in the tail gates? What year was the facelift? Sorry for all the noob questions

They do work uncoded but people report all kinds of weird symptoms e.g flashing etc.

Also Dave at seres sorted mine and seat charged 30£.

Finally.... IMO a cupra r must have them! Nothing less than a cupra! Lol

Pre face lift had different rear window ( didn't go right to the edges) and the rear lights ( on the boot lid itself) are a different profile. The Seat badge is larger too.
As a Cupra R yours will be a facelift.

My Leon is a 59 plate FR, looking at the back, the rear window goes all the way to the edge so I think I have a face lift tailgate.

Cheers for the info folks  Think i will get a set of the led rears then :)
