i know someone on the r32 owners club is putting a 2.8 12v so the older generation v6 into a caddy van think thats about same size as mk2 ibiza engine bay. the actual engine isnt that big compaired to say the 1.8t block so well worth looking into. the 12v sounds alot more meaty and throaty the 24v bit more raspy especially the 3.2
also seen 3.2 vr6 in mk2 golfs

ive read on here people say that its a heavy engine and upset the handling. using an r32 engine i guess would make it even worse. i'd put the 1.8t motor in more scope for tuning and cheaper to tune

you can save 25kg not needing the intercooler and pipng to run the 20vt so no real difference!

From what I've heard the R32 lump is lighter than the VR due to use of alot of plastics, I think it's mainly down to the manifold, hence why there so hard to find complete in breakers as it get's destroyed in an impact.

Will you be doing the conversion yourself?
personally i'm more a fan of a mk2 20VT - but i'd cheat to be honest and the money id spend getting one into a mk2 id just buy a mk3!

1.8 20VT is a lot better if your wanting to install - then progress with tuning...

I would get a 2.0 TFSI engine if i were to do one.
This is the route I was going to take but spoke to a few people and all said good luck mate your going to need it, Ben at QPE at least said there still trying to crack the ECU to get their 'plug and play' kit's into the VW range which wasn't proving easy, said they might be interested in helping me with the Beeza but said don't hold my breath!
