Hi all,

Previously had a Mk3 Cupra which I brought non running and repaired and modified then sold... It went over towards Oxford.

Anyway... Brought another one as missed the boost and the look of the car..

Blue one running 180bhp with a print out.. Still on standard K03.. Front mount fitted, FK coilovers, yellow stuff pads, G60 brakes, D shape steering wheel, gauges & turbo back decat exhaust.. That's about it.

The car as I brought it

I figure the stickers add at least 10bhp :)

Anyway.. After 1 day of ownership work started.

Weight loss still ongoing.. Got majority of the sound deading and foam packers out. Just the passenger side, tunnel and behind the dash left to do..

During all this I ordered some parts..

10 Point roll cage
Solid engine mounts
Exhaust heat wrap
New steering wheel
Snap off steering boss
K04 turbo - looking for the rest of the parts for conversion!
OMP Bucket seat subframes - already had race seat & side mounts..

Should have the cage by Wednesday next week so need to crack on with the weight loss..

Plans after that are K04 upgrade, bigger FMIC, remove SAI pump & pipe work, remove AC & pipes, remove charcoal can & pipes, relocate battery & washer bottle, remove oil pan cake & fit catch can, buy & fit Forge/Bager5 TIP, DV cold side relocation, 312mm brake upgrade & probably more!

Keep an eye on this one.. Should progress pretty quick! :) .. Happy to hear any suggestions or get advise!

Thanks guys & girls.

Don't think I'll forge it to begin with. My understanding is they have the same internals as K04 engines anyway?..

More sound deading removal today..

Progress couldn't go much further than this as the plan was to remove the dash and carry on although after finishing last night @ around 1:30am someone decided my tools would be better suited to them than me and so they broke in and stole them!!

Same internals yes, but your fine people forge 225 K04 lumps to go above stage 1, and some rods even let go at stage 1. It's the torque that gets em. 300ftlb.

K04 is an awesome turbo in strip MK3 trust me it's more than enough

I'd defo go forge to get the most out of it tho, If your converting it to K04 you can fit a set of rods in less time.

Check my thread if you need idea or PM me for any help.

A small update..

Spent more time getting the sound deading out which uncovered some rust!!

So I removed all the glue from the sound deading which was... Fun.

Then pulled out all the sound deading & padding behind the dash.. Another 8-10kg!

I also removed the AC behind the dash as won't be using it, around 5-7kg.. Then the blower 3-4kg and along with that the pollen filter

Was a little messy in there!

So gave that a quick clean and then sealed with a light weight sealing material

Yeah isn't too bad.. Sound deading & underseal was keeping it together haha.. It will be a track/road car for this year and a race car next year

Thanks dude! Enjoying doing it.. Spent a little time on it today getting rid of a load of the wiring I no longer need! Plenty came out and looking much tidier already.

Not much of a picture update for you all as on Monday I left my phone on the roof of my car, drove off and didn't realise until 5 miles down the road....

Whoops!

Anyway. After chopping the dash up it was sent for flocking, will be getting that back on Monday.

Painted the floor of the car in brilliant white.. Will take a photo tomorrow.

Cage is being dropped off on Monday for additional bars to be added then just need to paint & fit it!

Managed to weigh everything today that I've removed from the car.

Running total is 106.2kg!!! Still got the engine bay to do it so I'd imagine around another 20ish kg to come out! Considering chopping the spare wheel well out for a lighter flat floor..

All the stuff going back in is around 50kg so should end up with a good overall weight loss!

Thanks for that Chambers! Will check it out...

Managed to get a turbo, manifold and MAF so far. Looking for injectors, inlet and down pipe at the moment.

Thanks Phil.

Car is progressing well! Roll cage dropped off on Monday with Custom Cages for additional bars to be welded in, should have it back by Friday.

Got my flocked dash back!

Very impressed with the service, quality and knowledge of the guys who done it!

Also picked up a H&R rear ARB & 4bar FPR from Joe on here

abeea9fdb9ed1b13d9ba3c6eaaa064fe.jpg

Have a little predicament.. I brought a K04 and have started to collect up the parts for a conversion. So far I've got turbo, manifold, FPR & MAF housing and the offer of injectors from Phil above which I'll more than likely have!

BUT...

I've now brought a K03s turbo.. My aim for this car was to be around 220-230bhp which is within reach from a K03s.. So do I bolt the 3s on or do I hold out and convert to K04!??! Really can't decide what to do!
