Having acquired the ST, I did a search online for a genuine dog guard and found what looked like a suitable option from a main dealer. When it arrived, it was a Travall one which "sits" on the plastic shelves at the side of the cargo space and is held down by ties to the loops inside the wheel arch. The problem is, the grille itself sits around 50mm rear of the rear headrests, encroaching into the cargo area which is tight for my dogs (Golden Retrievers) due to the tailgate window slope.

Doing some further research, it seems there are two types of "proper" SEAT ones. Does anyone have any experience, please:

Part ref 5F9061205B which has to be fitted by a specialist as it needs special fixings to be mounted above the rear window and into the plastic cover at the side of the cargo space. The grille itself then has quick release fastenings for easy removal.

A different model, said to be for the Mk3 was for sale on Ebay recently and the listing showed to fitting instructions which stated there was no need to drill and it used existing mountings already in the car. Mine doesn't have these (I've had a feel along the headlining in case there are anchor nuts in place but hidden (there aren't).
Was there ever a factory option for "pre-mounting" or might that have been only available in an overseas market?

I'd be interested in details of the specialist tools needed for the other one as my garage is a SEAT specialist (who formerly held the local franchise), so I could check if they had the means to do the honours.

Many thanks,
Dave

I have one in my ST, which also rests on the plastic window frames but is attached to the rear reat hinches with a metal bar.
I 've just been on vacation with our Great Dane in the back of the car, which went great (funny to see how small he can roll himself into, which he also does in his bench at home).
I'll see if I can find the make/model of it later this week
