Hi mates,

I want to delete the middle resonator to slightly improve the sound.
Searching on etka, I've thinking about to swap the original resonator pipe by this other pipe (see diagram), what do you think, the diameter whould be the same?

The next month my car will be remapped and I have a few questions; For stage 1 only, the change of entire exhaust line can report any noticeable gains? The original exhaust is very restrictive? worthwhile for stage 1?

Cheers!

Can't comment on gains unfortunately as not too many here have exhausts done yet. ibizaracebrake had a custom one done so he may be able to tell you. The centre resonator should be fine being removed with a straight through pipe and would I believe impreove air flow for getting rid of the gas quicker.

Are any of those exhausts for the Cupra with the centre exit though?

They all look like side offset ones

The cupra exhaust is a side offset rear box, its the same all the way back as a regular Ibiza then just has a tailpipe that bends around the spare wheel well and out the middle.

Viktor, I suppose you change the exhaust for the sound.

If you want to gain power by changing the exhaust would also have to play the admission...
but the only thing that will feel the decibel level of TSI.

I hope you understand me, I speak bad English. Sorry.

EDIT:

PD.: If you are going to change the exhaust, you do look good in the future you can put the standard exhaust pipe. Since there are many who do damage to the underside of the car.

Hi mates,

Thanks for the replies. The target of swap is to obtain sporty sound only. The gains with original resonator removed on stock exhaust system are null. Because of this, my other question seeks advice about the benefits to mount a new complete exhaust for stage 1 remap, if yes, for me, the modification of stock exhaust does not have sense because I prefer to mount a new complete exhaust line, but if the gains are minimal for stage 1 I prefer to modify the original exhaust system.

If these two pipes can be swapped and both are same diameter could be a interesting mod, because the cost of the second pipe (without resonator) is too cheap and it's very easy to change by your self.
For the spanish ITV (periodical vehicle inspection) can be a interesting thing, you can put the original pipe with resonator and remove it after ITV inspection. Plug & play. No penalties :)

Cheers!

pd: Ruben your PM's are disabled :)

Okay, now read the FAQ's ... where can I send a private message;)

A friend put the exhaust line of an audi s2, put a guy in Barcelona who works for
racing cars, but now my friend calls the man by phone because he wants to put a
bigger muffler and the man did not take the phone and ignores my friend.

So do not put anything before ... In addition, you are in Galicia you would be expensive.

I hope you understand, thanks.

the first box, under the gearlever, is a heavy straight through, it's the second, rear box that is the most restrictive and even heavier. also a problem with the flexi section under the engine after the cat, which is too narrow at both ends. all changed on my car, and a lot lighter - money well spent and sounds great.

weighs both the exhaust pipe? (the approximate weight)
