Well if Greenlight keeps quoting me what they have been, and keep treating us like they have done....I can't see me leaving them while we have a "performance" car.

Hopefully you can get a good quote

guy on here is neil@greenlight

I used to be with them some years ago on my mk1 leon and always had good prices. I then downsized to a polo due to uni and they couldn't give me a good price so i left to brentacre

bear in mind that modified car policies are very different to policy with mods added...

Firstly modified policies are often alot better if you make changes to the car as they dont bend you over if you do so mid policy.
But also importantly modified policies can be 'like for like' - which is important as if the car got damaged they would repair it to the same spec using the same modified parts. Eg you have a forge FMIC, they will repair it with a new Forge FMIC. whereas most companies that allow you to add mods are only covering any increase in risk that you now represent and not the modified parts. should your car need to be repaired it would be repaired to stock standards with stock parts.
(thats right, most insurance companies are charging you more simply as you now represent a higher risk as being someone that modifies their cars and not because you have better insurance that will replace modified parts should you need to claim.

Finally someone who understands the difference between mainstream and specialist, this also applies to factory fitted options :)

Most of the modified specialist insurers dont quote me either dont know why, car is full of mods and a remap.

They only seem to go for the performance cars I think unless someone can quote me wrong. I'd hate to not get like for like, I rather get it fixed myself then

My Cupra Satge 2+ and all the usual mods is underwritten by Aviva too but through Need to Insure. I have Liv postcode too . Younger, have less but full no claims and limited my mileage on the policy.
I think it was a specialist motorsport one but not for racing etc...

Well I must say a big thank you to Neil at GREENLIGHT insurance and to you lads who pointed me in the right direction. Neil has restored my faith in customer care , I got a cracking price for my stage2+ cupra, thank god I don't have to trade it in for an audi diesel, some of the previous prices quoted were quite ridiculous ..... Thanks again Neil . If you need modified insurance don't bother ringing around give Neil a call and save your time/ breath, and of course MONEY...... Cheers..

ok but whats the £400 premium like if you add a remap?
the modified policy would also be more accomodating for any further mods. whereas each and every individual mod would increase your premium on a standard policy by a fair bit, as well as not actually insuring the items declared!

Exactly if the £400 is just a bog standard policy that wont allow modifications then its understandable that a modified policy would be more.

With the policies we off you can add additional modifications througout the year. We also cover the parts on a like for like basis.

We can also offer Track day cover which most insurers wouldnt entertain. And can even offer Agreed Value for highly modified cars (this is free of charge for SCN members)

Im another that just jumped on the greenlight bandwagon.
Spoke with Neil who was very helpful.
cancelled my admiral policy mid term as was getting fed up with the ridiculous charges for mods that they wont replace in an accident anyway.
I must admit i was very surprised by the price of modified cover, especially as my wife is only 23. Its obviously slightly more expensive than standard cover but its great peace of mind knowing its all covered properly and theres no more charges lying in wait for further mods.
