They dont have any mechanical diferences. Only a diferent engine map.I didn't know that about the different power band on the FR and Cupra. I'm surprised since I thought it would just be the top end peak power which was affected by the turbo not the lower down power before the turbo spools up. Wonder if there are any other mechanical differences?
The friend who remmaped his cupra has ordered an exhaust (custom made) and he is looking for an air filter. But when he installs these he will have to install revo again to gain the extra hp. Also, when he installed revo they told him that it is not officialy released yet (but have license to install it) and they will be some diferences to benefit from the dsg. (we also told them about the lag and they will fix it by making the supercharger kick in from lower rpm)I wouldn’t think an air filter and less restrictive exhaust would make a huge difference unless the map was changed to suit. Without this the car’s throttle response should be better with possibly a few BHP extra. I would imagine the new exhausts system will be lighter than standard also.
There are clutches available for the 6 speed DSG. Certainly they will be available for the 7 speed DSG unless VAG decides to use the new 7 speed DSG (550nm) on all new cars and not only on some audis. As mentioned a few times the DSG is certainly a concern when adding more and more power. The gearbox is a sealed unit so changing the clutch plates will be no easy feat and will cost may £££’s if it goes prematurely just because you’ve added a few ext lb/ft of torque.
