more bhp from a 1.9tdi 110 any suggestions

I had a remap done, quick, clean and effective. Went from 110 to 143; the drive is so much better and more responsive.
A tuning box is far more obvious if you ever have the misfortune of being in an accident and you haven't declared the mod to your insurers. Also the box comes with a stock map, many remaps will be customed to your needs.

I had a tuning box on my old passat 110 tdi and it went well. Fitted really easily. Took bhp to 140 and torque to nearly 230.
The only fault I would note is that it became smokey, but other than that, great.
I also fitted an open cone k&n 57i which gave a nice whoosh, whistle noise but did make the engine louder on tickover...

Most peoples preference would be a remap, because a tuning box just doesn't do the job properly. Correct recalibration of the software will keep the engine running efficiently with the right AFR's and temperatures, meaning less problems with VNT's getting clogged up, better fuel economy etc You won't get this from all tuners, but if you choose wisely you won't be disappointed.

Clutch and mechanicals were fine..
Fitted for over a year with no problems, but I did notice a small leak develop from the rocker cover before I sold it.
Whether the increase with internal pressures caused it, but the car ran sweet. Thought about a remap but they were expensive at the time, so I went for the cheaper option.
If I had the choice now, I would prefer a remap from a reputatable company.

My remap was done with the car having over 95k on the clock. Now at 120k and no issues I would attribute to the remap. Without hesitation I would have another done if the need arose.
Another way of gaining a few bhp is getting rid of the std exhaust & going decat as you don't need a cat on a diesel anyway
No,you can also change back box to a single 1 as this is a restriction on power too
Diesel isnt like petrol,loosing a silencer & cat dosent make much difference to loudness :

Okay cheers mate I'm gonna do some before and after pictures anyway soon. Need some alloys but dunno which ones to go for. So I could alter the exhaust and change to a cone filter or maybe an upgraded panel filter and see what difference it makes could place to start I reckon
Wouldn't it smoke way more with a decat.... I thought the idea of the cat was to reduce the emissions and smoke issue...

De cat wont do anything power wise, you can gain maybe 5hp on the PD 150 removing the backbox. Cone filter etc wont do anything either, even if you had no air filter at all. Get a remap, get bigger injector nozzles, bigger turbo and a remap or something along those lines.
You wont smoke more without the cat either, your emissions will be higher but nothing you'd notice and the car isn't louder.
PD 150 intake could help with a remap as it allows better air flow but your injectors will still restrict how far you can get first then the turbo.
