*shrug*

Depends on whether you class it as worth it

Fitting yourself is easy for most stuff.. So it doesn't really cost that much.. Price for a TD2 - easily capable of 240bhp is £1030.. Remapping on top of that is a touch over 500.. Yeah you've got the other bits to upgrade as well (Clutch, intercooler, brakes, exhaust etc).. But it's still more than likely cheaper than buying a standard 240bhp diesel I'm sure.

I love threads like this!

It's good to see the dyno results from rolling road days at Awesome GTI. Simple remaps can give more power than the addition of other parts on top.

If it's a loony TDI you want and your pockets are deep enough, go for it. Otherwise buy a BMW 335d!

I dislike threads like this... interesting.

Sorry but I dont class a 335D anywhere near fun. They are so smooth... if you want a TDi to drive like a grandad then yes. Otherwise the 123D is more like it.

Dont know how anyone can think 3k just for a turbo fitted is right ROLF!

You also cant exchange a PD130 turbo Dan, and the exhaust would cost a little more than £200 unless you get mates rates. Also the clutches that can be bought for £500? They can handle 400lb.ft can they?

End of the day 240bhp is cheap to get from a PD130/PD150. Its the rest, like coilovers, brakes, LSD, arbs, strut braces, bushes, tyres, wheels, spacers that are going to cost.

Yeah good job your here T.spark
I was just giving ruff prices, im sure i saw a post from one of the major tuning companys that said the sachs clutch was roughly £500 and that was capable of handling over 300lbs.
Maybe not ? Just trying to help :D

That would be the one i was talking about then!
The temptation is there to get sarcastic  but to get sarcastic like that i think would make someone look like a bit of a nob ;) so i wont haha

Wouldn't it be easier to switch to petrol? :laser:

Gotta be cheaper to get a performance increase so you will save money for fuel :ban:

Tax is only 120.00 ;) so if your planning to keep your 240bhp derv for a few years, you get fuel savings and tax ahah. Depends how long you plan to keep your car, a grand on mods each year is easily done. Generic maps will give you 180bhp all day long on a 130 running standard everything. The extra push just requires intercooler, turbo and clutch upgrades, you only wona think about braking and handling when you intend to use that power ahah.

Running 180-190bhp defiantely requires a brake upgrade. Id be screwed without my 312's.

I have major issues with power and second gear currently, hoping a stepup to 17s will help? but new set of tyres first.

You have issues mate. To get sarcastic youd have to actually have had to do any of this to car, rather than getting it like that ;)

Your prices as you say are rough indeed, and not including fitting. So I was simply saying it will be more than you have said. Which no matter what you say, im not wrong?

PD130 cant be on exchange? No sarcastic reply there...

End of the day, this entire thread is pointless. Hense my first reply. Asking what power can be had from a engine is for gheys, do the mods and found out for yourself :D

That's why I love threads like this. It's all pie in the sky until tried & tested.

Edit to add that I had our FR TDI on the rollers at Awesome's ClubLupo RR day yesterday. 172bhp at the clutch & 318 torques. Not bad.

There's one near where I stay pushing 263wkw and 677nm I stand to be corrected but it's mad figures like that.

Ema-lou
Do you mean re-mapped? As far as i am aware there is no "chipping" done on ibiza TDI's it is reprograming of the original ECU.
And i dont think the standard turbo on a cupra would flow enough air to support that kind of power for very long :(
I may be wrong ofcourse ;)

100k miles on reprogrammed Cupra with 210 hp, 300 ftlbs odd, new clutch is only other mod. So they last.
