MOT Fail - legit or Con

Hey guys.

This is helping out.my.cousin. He is foreign and only lived in this.country for last 2 years.

But he took his car in for an MOT test. From what I can see he passed the emissions (diesel) test. But then has a fail for 'major exhaust leak (7.1.2).

Surely if he passed.emmisions test then how can there be a.major leak?

You are talking about two completely different issues there, emissions are what is coming out of the exhaust pipe, leaking exhaust is where the exhaust is coming out of the exhaust system at points where it should not be!
