Hey everyone, thanx for takin ur time to view my question.its only regarding an MOT.my airbag light has come on recently n I was wondering whether it is an Mot failure, hope not as by the sounds of things in my car, theres a dodgy knockin sound at the bak left.this only occurs when drivin slow :-( any help wud b appreciated

I would say if your airbag light is on, you should be getting this professionally checked regardless of your MOT.

Airbag going off / no going off at the right or wrong time could save or end your life.

It has only come on recently but I'm gettin it sorted ASAP,just wanted to know if it will affect the MOT.i have been informed that it's a common fault with the airbag light, somethin to do with the box directly under the drivers seat

Yep it's a fail. And you can't even take the fuse out for it now because it has to light up when ignition is on and has to go out.

Engine light isn't a fail.

Airbag
SRS
PAS
ABS
TCS
ESP

All are.

basically any safety related system MUST be fault free to achieve a pass. VOSA are not bothered about the EML as it can be triggered for pretty much no reason at all.

Too many variables can cause the eml to come on so it was not considered and it's not a safety related system. So pending an emissions test the car goes through.

The eml is actually meant to indicate an emission related fault but can actually indicate such minor issues as a bulb being out.

Hey everyone, just thought I would let u all know that it is an mot failure having an airbag failure.this knew rule for the mot came out last April.now the question is,what do I do??do I get it diagnosed or get the box thing from seat n get it fitted by the garage I had my mot at??

You're thinking of the abs light, that has to follow the correct procedure. The airbag light is only a fail if it's is illuminated. Technically you can still take the bulb out or disable the light but not advised.

Seeing as you're in South Wales, come and see me and i'll plug the laptop in to it and tell you what the fault is.

What box thing are you referring to?
