alright for you i failed the mot 2 weeks ago, i still waiting for a poxy bloody shocker from FK. 3weeks waiting time and 70 bucks for it what a joke

takes the piss

right:

Picked up last night. sounds much better now than it did when i bought it 3 years ago. it always sounded like a diesel. However tho, when I turned ignition lights on, the temp light came on. I assumed because they'ed been playing with the engine, it'd sort it self out. Well last night it must have kept coming on every 10/15mins or so, and would stay on for at least 5 mins. any ideas?

also at low speed (1st & 2nd gear, and also on biting point), i can hear a kind of grinding sound from the front (can't be gearbox, that was only replaced a year ago). could it be anything to do with the tie/bar bush pin thing that they replaced?

also thinking of selling it and looking at getting either and LCR, Audi A3 or Nissan Primera GT

How much do you think I could get for may car? I was unsure. A mate reckons I could get 1,800 - 2k. I don't think much more than 1,500

Grinding from the front in low gears!! That my friend would be the mail bearings in your gearbox. I was going through gearboxs like a fly through shite, when i sold it i was onto my 3rd in 2 yrs. I sold mine for £2000 but i replaced the engine with a polo one with only 18K so id say you'l be lucky to get around £1800 mat

really? my gearbox is little over a year old! is it a serious problem do you think?

Thing is, it was ok when it went in Thursday! Was hoping it'd be something to do with the tie/bush pin thing

Yeh its a known fact that the gearboxs on the 1.4S are weak, even the guy at my local dealer said that. I had mine about 10 months before mine 1st went which was the main bearings, then that was done on warrantee at dealers which lasted 6 months until the bearings went again, finally got another but never really drove it then as i had the cupra

so how much do you think it'll set me back? seems funny how it was ok when i took it in, and now its ****ed!

so need another ****ing new box?

takes the piss

cant the parts just be replaced?

will do, i noticed after a decent drive yesterday, it stopped making the sound at low speeds in 2nd gear. However, it started later on, even heard it when pulled on drive and i was stationary, in neutral, clutch not down or anything and it made the noise again!

I was kinda hoping it'd either be summat to do with the tie/bar rod they sorted or the manifold they just put on!

Also, why the **** does my temp light randomly come on even though the needle is at half way point!!!

I cant imagine a gringing sound coming from the manifold. As for the temp sensor, they may have disconnected something and not put it back on properly so have a nose about under the bonnet to see if you can see anything out of place. And check the coolant level as that could be low

cheers fella.

wanna buy my car?

in fact, i'll do s straight swap, plus a fiver (you give me :D)

Final Straw!!!

Picked car up Saturday evening and went for a spin at about 21:30 for about an hour. The car was making a weird grinding sound at the front at low speed and ideling (20pmh and less). Also, the temp light flashes and beeps whenever it wants to!

I thought the car would "adjust" itself and be ok after a few miles of driving! Anyway, went to work and back yesterday and still the same problem. Also the same on my way to town today. On the way back it was the same, but once the temp light came on again I flipped!

Straight to garage and stormed in office explaining that the MOT is supposed to make me feel safe, yet I don't feel safe one bit in my car! On the way back from town I had AC on, temp as low as it goes (about 17°C) and fans fully in my face! Yet I still had beads of sweat dripping down my forehead!

I also asked him why every time I take it to him to get it repaired, I have to go again 2 or 3 times after!*

Told him not to call me until it's sorted! ****ing Furious!

*before anyone mentions, I did trust the guy. But doubt very much I'll be going again. In fact I'd rather pay loads more and go to the dealers, at least I have a chance of claiming or something if they bodge up!!!!

Just picked the car up. Turns out the knocking noise was the brand new exhaust system! They asked if I took a speed hump too fast, I said it's made that noise since I got it back! Then I thought, my mum drove it from garage, home! She woulda nailed it over speed humps like she does in hers. Not thinking about the reduced ground clearance since being lowered! So therefore, she damaged the middle box of the system.

I never asked her to drive it, she never asked either! Just took it from garage home without permission! To me, she was then uninsured to drive (Fully comp are insured to drive with owners permission!

Seriously, she does my head in. I put any money on it, she'll deny any knowledge of it! And blame it on me somehow even tho it was ok when garage did it, yet when I pick up from home, its damaged and she was the only person to drive it!!!

****ing women/mothers

LoL. Sorry mate, but your little moan has made me smile.

As you said; I can just imagine my mother driving my car over speed bumps just in the exact same way she does in her range rover, 30/40mph straight over the centre. Then she'd probably role into my cul-de-sac, and go straight up the ramp onto the driveway at a 90degree angle! Only I know what angle the car needs to be to get on/off the drive without scrapping the ground. So i'd probably go home to a car with no front end and broken parts scattered all over the drive!

Mothers!

She has a Stilo Abarth 2.4 and nails that over humps at about 30! To be fair, I could go over some near us at about *cough* 45 *cough* without hardly noticing them, been since i lowered it last week, i slow right down into 2nd gear, sometimes 1st to get over em

When I got in Saturday and saw car there, I asked why she bought it round. she said she was doing me a favour. Hell, my bro picked me up from work that night and he coulda dropped me off at the garage as we pass it to go home. So no need to bring it really! And hardly a favour when its been in garage for last 2 days again!

Knew it! She denied everything! So I asked her to explain how it got damaged from the garage to home! Then she said maybe I did it! Until I pointed out it sounded broke from the moment I left the drive!

Just flipped at her, what do you expect after spending £400+ to get through MOT? I told her that I never asked to bring it from garage, to which she replied with "you asked me to pay for it", my response being "I gave it you back straight away didn't I?"

****ed off now!

She kinda admitted fault in the end tho :D
