just a quick question to see if any other person on here has been in the same situation.
My car is due an MOT later on this year. Will it fail an MOT because of the tinted windows, they are illegal ones, but if they were to fail me, im going to get them taken off.

What % tint can you go to in the front and front-side windows?

and....is that much darker than the standard tint on my LCR, if so i want to have it done?

can the MOT test station actually test tints?from what i have read on here and other sites,they are very reluctant to buy the very expensive kit to test the % of tint.go to one that hasn't got the tint testing kit

good idea.
IVe been stopped and tested before by the traffic police and they are def. illegal
on the ibiza it says on the window the standard tint was 9% and i think my reading was nearer 50% when i got done.

i'll just find somewhere that a lot of modified cars go to. shouldnt be a problem (I hope) thanks

my old punto turbo had limo tint all round and never failed mot once..i took it to a diff garage everytime aswell..

Wind the windows down & put 'trim' or parcel tape over the switch.

i think some of the main dealers, are looking at this more . I know th epolice are very hot on it down here. And to be honest some of the cars you see should be done, especially the ones with the snowy mountain effect ( whats that all about)

But as others have said spose its where you go, different testers have different things they like failing people for. The tester at my mates garage has a personal preference for indicator bulbs that are too white!! ( after the orange tint has burnt off )
