Can someone please help !

I'm probably being completely stupid, but I don't seem to be able to burn an mp3 cd for my Leon
I've searched the forums and thought I knew the way to do it.... I burned the disc with nero under the burn data disc option, the cd has all the tracks on it in the sub directories, but when I put the cd in the stereo it just says disc error !

This has happened 5 times now and I'm getting fed up with burning coasters ! [:@]

Can someone please give me some idea on how to do it ?
Is it something to do with the length of the names or something ?

I had the same problem, first, have you converted the Windows Media files to MP3 files? There are plenty of free converters out there.

I used Nero as well, i have Nero Start Smart, and under the audio heading on there is a icon to burn MP3 discs. I used this and had no problems at all.

Yes I have converted the files to MP3 (I ripped them from my cd's using windows media player straight to MP3 format).
I've just tried burning them using your method, and again I get an error message on the stereo

Any other ideas ??

Just out of curiosity try a conversion program, I used Jodix. http://www.jodix.com/[/URL]

have a look half way down, and rip some files into WMA format and then convert using Jodix. Then use Nero.

What does it say is on the disc in the My computer window? I have just looked on my MP3 discs burnt as above and they show all the songs as you expect.

It could be you're using a type of disc that it doesn't like. Have you tried a different brand? And are you putting them onto CD or DVD btw?

Right, I've now tried re-ripping the cd's to .wma format then I've used that jodix program to convert them to mp3. Put them on a cd and bang, stereo says cd error again !
I've also tried a different brand of cd now and that doesn't work either :censored:
I'm only trying CD's btw, not dvd's...
But when looking at the cd's on my pc they look as they should. I rang my local dealer this morning and if I can't get it working by Friday (when my car is going in for a couple of bits) they will try my cd's in a different car and see if I have a faulty stereo...
Other than that I haven't a :censored: clue whats up !!

Thanks for your help anyway guys :) If you think of anything else let me know

Julian

i'm sure if you asked nicely one of the guys on here would post you a copy of a disc they know that works. that way you'd be able to eliminate either your head unit, or your burning technique.

i would, but as i dont have my car yet i cant be certain any of my mp3 discs will work!!

Longman has kindly offered for me to call in at his place one evening this week to try an mp3 cd he uses in his car.... So thanks for the offer, but I'll wait and see whether his cd works first and it'll save you the hassle of making me a disc then posting it too ;)

Thanks again for the offer though !!

No go Dave.

The CD didn't work. All I can assume is that the radio isn't an MP3 one or it is faulty.

I think a trip to the dealer was planned anyway!

As Longman says, the CD didn't work, and as I was going to the dealers on Friday anyway I thought I'd get them to check it out..... I tried one of my discs in a Cupra in their showroom and it worked fine  then went and had a look at mine, and although I was told it was an mp3 stereo when I bought the car, and the handbook is for an mp3 stereo, it turns out that my stereo isn't mp3 at all !!! [:@]
So thanks for all your help guys but no mp3 cds were ever going to work !

Same thing happened to me, thought I was getting the MP3 radio, and didn't:(
