MPG on LCR help please :)

Hello,

You are probably sick of my pointless threads but i require a tad more information if that is okay.:idea:

I'm still weighing up the pro's and con's of a LCR over a Golf Gti. :blink: So far it is the LCR in the lead by quite a long margin.

However, would someone be able to answer a few questions on the MPG of the LCR.

When sitting steadily at 70mph what is the average MPG? and also, if we accidently pull onto a private runway and find ourselves at 85-90 mph, what would the MPG be?

I'd be very grateful is someone could answer this.

Thanks again,

Nick :funk:

Mate, if your on this here forum, you soon find yourself with a 'bug', Of various kinds! From OCD cleaning to modding which will soon see your mpg go that teeny weeny bit lower and find yourself at your local shell, far too often! But thats another joy of the bug! As for mpg... Pah!

I know :cry:

I've already spent half my life on the 'detailingworld', buying tremendous amounts of things i dont need haha.

I've done the tiny bit lower thing too :whistle: Embarassing how forums can turn you into money spending monsters isnt it!

Love the Jones' coment! Yet, why do we find ourselves doing it, buying stuff, all to wash it again next week? To get the, 'youl wash it away' or 'keep messing with it an itl break' coments from Derek and Doris next door! What is that feeling you get from transforming a sort of dirty car, into a gleaming, shiny, feels so good to touch car? Il shut up now, gettin abit deep!

I found MPG to be strongest in my standard LCR225 on A-roads (now brilliantly restricted to just 50mph) - 34MPG is possible for me if I don't leadfoot the dual carriageway section at the end of it. Motorways aren't so good.. I'd say 31MPG for 70MPH, tailing off to maybe 29MPG for 85 and 26-27MPG if you're nudging a ton and pushing on as much as possible.. Doing 50-60mph was so good for economy, in my opinion, because the turbo was simply idling all the time and the car drove like a 'normal' 1.8. At higher speeds the turbo will be working more, even at constant speed.

Perhaps this improves after a remap though?

All on private runway:
@70mph - 35-40mpg
@85-90mph - ~25-28mpg
@100mph - ~20-22mpg

Thanks alot everyone. Figures are considerably better than what i imagined!

Best get back to test driving those LCR's!!

Thanks again.

Ps. I test drove an onvi yellow '05' 225 from a dealer down the road from me, however it didnt have the Cupra R steering wheel and a dubious 22k milage. Why could this be? Steer clear?

Regards

What steering wheel did it have? Pop the bonnet and check the tag on the engine, front left from memory, fairly obvious. Should be BAM.
