Not a good idea gettin anything mapped to Optimax/V-Power as it degrades over time and doesnt actually have a RON rating coz of this.

really? jabba told me that it will see more power on V-power etc?! my 106 gti was mapped on 97 and only ever run on 97 and above. i don't get what you mean?

Time for Vag Com i reckon mate. Get it looked at.

As mentioned earlier on, i'm getting between 190 and 250 miles per tank
between 22 and 28 mpg.

Have checked fault memory using 1551 at work.

What else could I check log wise, maf, boost, temp sensor, lambda output?
What should the values be for a cupra with only a d/v?
And what conditions should the above be tested at i.e while accelerating take at 2000rpm etc?
Anybody know the measuring blocks needed to check above?

Is there anything else that can be checked using 1551?

Reckon i'm gonna have a play tomorrow at dinner.

Read what i said. Shell stuff V-Power degrades. All super unleaded actually have a RON rating, i.e 97, 99 etc.. V-Power or optimax never managed to pass the criteria to be able to give it a RON figure as it degrades.

There are reports of 'fresh' or 'old' stocks of optimax being better/worse for the car.

Have a google about it, loads of info on "Optimax Degreading"

interesting info there, i have always used optimax but sounds like it'd be best using a high ron fuel (which im assuming wont degrade)

ahh, so it's the shell stuff only? say i mappe dit on BP 97 to be safe then, will it run just aswell if i then fill up with tesco 99 or optimax 98? i want to sort of compromise with 97 because if i cant find 99 ron anywhere i dont want to run it on anything lower than it's mapped on?!

they dont map it on the fuel, thay map it on the RON rating, normally either 95ron, 98+ ron or race fuel

personally i wouldnt use anything but tesco 99 or v-power (aka optimax) their is alot of gossip on the web regarding vpower/optimax degrading, wether this is true or just rumours, who knows, but if it is true then shell shouldnt be selling it and i would have thought they would be in trouble due to false advertising etc .. (personally dot believe it but have read alot about it)

ok, so it's probably best if i fill up with tesco 99 as it's cheaper. then always make sure i use either that or shell V-power 99.

what will happen if i get it mapped on 99 and then use 97 one day though? will it run really flat?

it wil knock the timing back (make other slight alterations) and yes, run flat (only if you have it mapped to the octane level though

Tescos is a true 99 ron petrol, optimax was made up to 98 with additives.

At the end of the day you bought a performance car, if you want economical, sell up and buy a shitter.

As far as I'm aware from a mate that use to race bikes and use to be in a power bikes series.. Optimax does degrade............ But generally takes a couple of weeks before any noticable degradation takes place......

Lets just say my mate in person only buys his fuel the day before he is going to use it.....
But if it takes a couple of weeks for it to start degrading then I for 1 ain't gonna notice it because a tank in mine lasts a week tops and I reall don't cover that many miles

O by the way I average about 26 mpg (fairly short journeys tho so is kinda expected).
Had an ave of 38mpg once but that was long journey going on hols
By the way mine is standard apart from revo 1

im getting 26-28 when i boot it, if i drive normally i get between 33-36. Only mods i have concerning fuel is revo stage 1 running boost 7 and timing 7 using only Tescos 99

Damn man... if that's true I'm glad I don't get ripped off paying over the odds for Shite really!!!!

You can stick whatever ron in it... it will effect the performance very slightly... your car will not blow up.... but if you need fuel then IMO having a bit of "lower" stuff is better than driving on nothing till you find the exact match!
