Hi

Can anyone help?

I have a SONY CD multichanger from my previous Seat Leon, I was told by the dealer that it will fit into the centre console /arm rest of my new Seat Altea but can't see how to get access to this. Can anyone advise?

Cheers

What info do you actually need - had my car in bits recently to install lots of wiring and iPod adaptor etc., so have a good idea about how it comes apart and even how it re-assembles!

Thanks John

I just need access to the centre console so that I can can put the CD changer in it. I think that the rear part must unclip off somehow (but since it's fairly new I'm afraid I may snap something if I pry too hard!!).

I take it that once this is off my guess is that the tray bit will slide out towards the rear (once the topscrew - which I can see, has been removed!).

Once I have access, I pressume that the wiring will be in place to plug everything in (as it was in the leon dashboard).

I would be glad of your advice.

Hi Martin,
First, I apologise - I was going to take some photos of dismantling process but forgot to do it in the end!.
For the rear of the console:
You need to pull off the rear moulding - it's a bit brutal, but get both hand on the recess "tray area" and give a good pull - it should come away, there are clips on the side. Once pulled away, it will still be connected by the power socket wiring! At the bottom, you will see 2 torx screws - remove these and back end of console can be lifted up.
For front of console:
Remove blanking plugs in back end of alloy effect bars on each side of console area - remove torx screw on each side and bar will slide away from dash slot.
Now console will be loose front and rear.

Not sure how you deal with centre cubby area - looks like there is a "knock out blank" in front bottom which is presumably for the multiway changer cable.

Hope this helps anyway.
Cheers,
John.

Yes, you are right, after much knuckle wrenching I managed to install the changer unit and wired it to the head unit, only to find that the connection is indeed different.

Will need to locate a new interface unit.

Any ideas??

Ah well the interface in the link I got Halfords to order since they had already got the MD changer in for me but couldn't fit it for about four months since they didn't know what interface it used until I found the one mentioned. It does all Sony changers whether MD / CD / HD etc. So a Google will list where you can buy it from.

OK, so I think a trip to Halfords is on the cards (this is good because I brought the original unit from there!)

Thanks for all your help, very much appreciated.
