DSG-boy didn't I read somewhere that you are from Sweden? Might explain the discrepancies.

Yes, maybe you´re right.
Or that these Cupra seats cannot be equiped with heat. Heated seats are standard equipment in northern Europe

God is gutting when you purchase a new model leon, then things already start changing. I was going to bang a private reg on mine in 6 month as its 55 reg, but bit pointless now since some people will know its not an 08 model :(

The new FR seats look nice, but the original ones are very good IMHO (Not that I'm biased as I've had mine nearly a year), it is only a small change - if SEAT did something like upgrade the brakes or the engine then i'd be annoyed!

Guess your right Wurzel, I feel a tad better ta :)
Maybe they might sort out the steering wheel electrics too, mine have gone twice already I've had the car less than 5 weks from new and not happy :(

They don't even make my leon model anymore, plus theyve added lots of features like ipod/aux, different lockin features etc :)

Here to help :D Anyway passengers can't see the seats when you are driving, they just feel them as they pushed back by acceleration

Never had a problem with the steering wheel on mine although I have had other issues like rattles, airbag sensors etc.

agree, if the FR came with crap seats and the new FR got these lovely seats then id be a tad uspet but the seats in the FR are already pretty good so..

bothered? not really ;)

wouldnt say no to them if they came as standard of course :)

that also means the MY08 FR doesnt come with the all important passenger seat under storage AND the irreplaceable behind the seat storage pockets/nets. you guys will be soooo gutted!! ;)

LOL These are good points, underseat box very useful for storing CDS in & GPS craddle when not in use...

Its always swings and roundabouts

The new "Cupra"-seats in the FR are nice... but they do - IMO - have a disadvantage because they can´t be equiped with heat, and because of the "plasticshell" mounted on the back take away some space from the rearseats!

Very helpfull post...

I already ordered my "satin black" front grill for my Cupra...

So if I've ordered FR with winter pack amongst other things does that mean it will come with old style seats? It was build week 27/28.

Those new seats are very nice.

Due to be delivered on 3rd Sept with a nice new '57' plate reg. Can't wait.

In sweden these heated seats are standard in allmost every car and everybody here wants it.. we are all used to it.
We all hate the damn cold mornings on the way to the work

But the cupra didn`t have it because of the seats. That`s a shame for us here, but I still ordered one of course. We have summer too :D
Now the FR will have the same type of chair. That means that both the hottest models of leon won`t have the heated seats. If seat don`t make the seats with the heat option for MY08?
That`s not a good thing for winning costumers here in the colder sweden I think.

But that is just one more thing the underdog seat has to take from the VAG group here.
Seat is at the bottom of some new sale/happy costumers lists here.
Whitch I can`t understand, I mean.. it`s all bulit by VAG parts.
But still it`s a very small brand that people seems a littlebit afraid of here :(

That really is very helpful, I was thinking Cupra over the FR because I wanted the bucket seats - stupid I know, but cheaper insurance and now bucket seats in the FR, I shall be popping down to my local dealer very soon! :D

FR seats do look better, but I think I'd prefer the old ones based purely on the fact that the head rests are adjustable - I like to be able to rest my head on something when I'm driving.... (helps me sleep :) )

 If its 'Manufacture Year' how can it be MY08 cause we are still in 2007.

and come to think of it as we are still in 2007 how can you have Model Year 08???

:headhurt:

MY is ModelYear and nothing else!
My FR is a MY08.
Buildate/productiondate 2007-07.
BMW change MY in september. VW, Audi and Seat june-july, Volvo in June.
Yearmodel doesn´t excist anymore.

And what does it all matter what MY it is?
Things like facelifts, new bundleing of equipment, new stuff like those Cupra sportseats for instance. :)
And things like these can be important when it´s time to sell your car.

(Of course yearmodel excist when you talk with "ordinary" people, and not with carnerds like myself) :p

I think the Model Year concept has got out of hand with manufacturers releasing the new model year earlier and earlier.

It used to be a new model year would be released in the autumn ready for the next true year, quite often around motorshow time (in the U.K anyway). So if you bought a car in Novmber or December it would likely be the model for the next year.

This seems to be getting earlier and earlier, especially with SEAT starting to build MY08 in May I think it was. They just use it to identify a major spec change (or not as often there will be no change between model years).

Strangely enough I have had my MY08 Leon Cupra for 5 weeks now, but my Mum ordered a new Fiesta on Sunday which is now going to be build to order is getting an MY2007.25
