Hi guys, just registered but need some help. Giving back my company car Golf, new job is less than 10 miles round trip in a day so thought i'd help myelf to a sporty little number.

I'm just budgeting myself around the 7/8k mark (get me through my probation period and can afford)

How does a 2003 SEAT Leon 1.8 20v Turbo 180BHP,
• 68,000 miles
• BLACK
• Hatchback
• 2003
Facelift Model, Full Service History
PRICE = £6500 (ish)

Im a newbie at this, is there anything i need to watch out for, ask, be aware off about anything, eg service, common faults etc?? basically i dont want to buy this car and spend money soon on it as i was being a plonker!!!

Any help is great, cheers people :D

Welcome to the forum!!!

As you can see i haven't been here long either. but starting to get used to it now....

I paid £7500 for my 52 plate with 40,000 miles on it has a full service and leather pack! so i think thats a good price!

mine is also a face lift model. I reakon you should get it and the fest of the money treat yourself to a blue flame exhaust from the group buy! works out to be a great deal, have a look in the group buy section at the bottom of the home page!

Thanks for replies guys.

***The most common faults are the MAF sensor and door leaks.***

How/where would i check these??
When i test drive, is there anything i need to keep an eye or ear out for??

Cheers lads.

Agree'd with what DPJ has said, however you can sometimes feel a loss of power is the only sign of a dying MAF.

If theres anything else i should know or be aware of that would be great. Will go see it tomorrow hopefully, need to hook myself up in the next 2 weeks and im most likely to get a LCR now. They just look toooooo good :)

Will have to do some serious reading to see what i can do/ or need to change to improve my LCR!!!!

For the door leaks just have a feel and see if the footwells are damp and have a feel under the door along the interior panel for water, Easy to DIY fix if it has a leak so dont let it put you off. Just give it a good drive in all gears, make sure its nice and smooth i guess. DO make sure the cambelt has been done. Oh and definitely get your self a blueflame exhaust from the group buy on here!!! Go for it mate, I love my LC

Thanks for the advice guys, will let you know later this afternoon (hopefully if its not gone already!!) what the outcome is!!

Well guys, i've just dropped a little deposit on the little monster so i'm a proud owner of a LCR!!!! Cant f'in wait to get my hands on it properly once the work has been done, so by the weekend for sure!!

FYI - i got it for £6750. They to do a full service (69k), cambelt change, 6 months rad tax and 3 month full warranty on car :) I think its a pretty good deal myself seeing as it was up for sale at £6750!!! :)

DPJ - is that an extra cost or is it included, if so, how much is an expected price??? Work is not being done by SEAT but traders garage but giving me all receipts and warranty. Thanks, let me know and i can text the guy now.

Replacing the water pump is a simple job while the cambelt is off. The lifespan of a standard pump is far less than that of a cambelt.

Slyce... good man.

I just put a deposit on a Black Leon Cupra facelift. As with you, I can't wait!!! :)

Anyone know the cost, while the cambelt is off, for the water pump or a part number and i'll search?? Thanks.

Cheers bigchrissyg - its all uphill from here!!!! (Still got the grin!!!)

Hehe... I'm grinning until I get to the petrol station!!!

So my cousin said, to get that changed is usally quite pricy, but he did say you have to take the pump off to do it anyhow, so makes sense. That's about as little as I know!! :D

106gtiking - Well the one im getting originally was on an 02 on the forecourt and was changed to a 52... so assume they started on 02's.
