The cars original tyres were Pirelli P-Zero Rosso, and the original rear tyres are still on the car having had a stint on the front when the car was new. To be fair, I really like the Pirelli's - They have good grip, were ok in the rain and they allowed for good handling and are obviously hard wearing. These tyres were good for approx 9-10k on the front with my driving. It is just a shame they have no sidewall protection or I would defo have them again.

Second set of front tyres were Bridgestone Potenza's RE040's. These allowed for reasonable handling, but grip was not great in the dry or wet, and they wore out after 5-6k with my driving. They did however have sidewall protectors. I would defo not have them again.

Third set are Goodyear Eagle F1 Assymetrics which were fitted today. Initial thoughts are good ones with grip being best so far, handling being good and they have sidewall protectors. The longevity will therefore be the decider for me with regard to what I buy again in the future and how they perform in the wet and in winter - I have to say that the regular F1's on my last car were pants in the winter so I am not altogether convinced with these yet.

Anyway, hope this helps someone who is undecided with regard to which tyres to fit on their Cupra.

To be honest, I have used Metzeler Racetec K2 tyres on the bike for the last year now and they are great. You can't get them for cars as far as I am aware though :)

Good bit of info seen as i need new tyres. Don't think my Pirelli's will last much more than 7k mls. Used to get gsd3's on the mk1 but local garage who always does a good deal can only get Assymetricals now so good to have a postiive write up i think i'll try them.

I will be getting the Dunlop Sport max TT,s next on my K1. Had 1st hand experience of them being pushed to the limit in the dry and wet, and was most impressed by the grip.

I just bought two replacement Pirelli P Zero Rosso for my Cupra. I am very careful with the alloys (just cursed myself) and liked the tyres. I have paid for them and the garage is putting them aside for me as they had a special offer on them this weekend and I still have a bit of tread left on the originals (done 7800 miles so far). I got the Pirellis for £112ea including fitting bla bla which I thought was good.

I really dont think you'll be impressed with the wear on the Goodyears. Best allrounder i'd say though.

Well i've eaten toyos and the old goodyears in <4k miles ... the last set of Falken 452 on the front managed a shade over 4k so now i'm trying the Goodyear F1 Asymmetrics - they can't be much worse in terms of lifespan - however they are a vast improvement in dry grip and a lot less squealy when abused.

got sport maxx TT's on mine, had them for about a week and a half now. Big improvement in grip both in wet and dry over bridgestone RE050A.
